I'll bet there are a lot of artifacts on Navy island. Not just from the hotel and battles, but also from the earliest habitations.

@@hawaiisage I think you are right! I wish they would allow people back on the island so that I could snoop around and look for a few remnants of history!

Great video Thank you. On going around Navy Island in a 24 ft Chriscraft the engine stalled on the north side down stream of the Island for about 5 miutes as we drifted to an unimagined fate, then ithe engine started. whew! Oh btw a really cool whirlpool is at the base of the Niagara river as it opens out into the lower river past the bridge at Brocks Monument. The river is at this place about a about a 100 ft deep hole in mostly 20 foot deep lower river, and as one swirls around in the 500 foot or even a quarter mile circle of gently churning water bringing zebra muscles up from the depths, I felt the potential powers of the immence waters of the Niagara. The outlet into the lake would be a bit scary in a Kayak as the waves of the fisherman boats would suddenly multiply in strength with the current entering the lake

Thanks this is good information about the whirlpool! Will check it out. The Chriscraft incident is a worst case scenario....glad ur engine started!

The outlet is a nice place to paddle. Able bodied and reasonable fit person need not fret about the current at the outlet.

The Niagara river has a steady 12 knot current . It’s a dangerous river .

i want to paddle there. worried about the river current though as i don’t have the greatest of kayaks. is it strong here?
@Kurt_Outdoors Жыл бұрын
I barely noticed the current which was about 3 kph. Bring extra set of paddles with you...just in case.
