Actually you're right. In the video I am holding an asymmetric paddle the incorrect way but the purpose of the video is really to demonstrate using a standard paddle. but yes you are correct. Thanks for pointing it out. Happy paddling.

the only thing you've not explained is why? what exactly is the advantage/reason for twisting the paddle each stroke ? I have my blades both facing the same way and it seems fine, so why should I change ? cheers.

Hi. Ok 2 reasons; 1) it's generally considered to be a much more efficient stroke, being less effort for what you achieve in distance and 2) with no feather to the blades the tendency is to rock the shoulders which transfers to rocking the kayak. If you watch from a distance you'll see the paddler rocks from side to side as they travel along, which makes for an inefficient stroke. Hope this helps.
