I had a stray Maine Coon cat named June that lived at the neighbor's old barn. Her mom, June and 2 siblings showed up on my patio. I got her fixed, no one adopted her, so she came back and was content to eat daily on my patio and live in the empty barn. She's been missing since July. Helene hit WNC, and she is either lost or an animal got her. I loved her alot, even tho she would never let me pet her. She looks exactly like your Louis...June was 7...

@@It-is-me...Melsie It was his kidneys. We did what we could but the medication just wasn't cutting it anymore, he was skin and bones. He just ate and ate and ate but his little body couldn't absorb the nutrition anymore. When he started getting ulcers on his sweet little toe beans, I couldn't let it go on anymore. 💔 Thank you for your kind words, Internet stranger.

@@Whammytap Yikes. My Steve is 16 and he has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease too. It is so hard seeing him deteriorate, and I know we're going to have to make the decision soon. I did think of him and the fact that we too will be going through the same soon when I saw your post, but I didn't want to mention him as clearly you've got your own grief with the loss of Rufus to deal with, but for the fact that my cat has the same. You're right though, in seeing such videos as the lovely one posted shares the joy and happiness and can take the edge off feelings of sadness. I hope you can feel happy that you gave Rufus the life he deserved.

@@It-is-me...Melsie I wish you the best with your and Steve's journey. Chronic kidney disease is the #1 cause of death in senior cats. You are to be commended for everything you've done for your kitty. Just because I've gone through it, or thousands of others have gone through it, doesn't invalidate your worries or grief. When it does come time, if there is one in your area and it's not too expensive, I recommend finding a service that does in-home euthanasia. We used one for Rufus and it was very stress-free for him, he passed very calmly and peacefully right on his favorite spot on the couch. 🩷

One cool cat nothing seems to upset him - even looked back to see if you were alright after you went under a low hanging willow. Even wet paws are no big deal. Remember as a kid taking our cat out for a row on a very calm day - he loved it -- but when we came back to shore he stepped off in about 6" of water, Rather a surprise to him but he walked ashore shook himself off and look a bit embarrassed about not realizing the water would not support him. He also loved fishing for minnows standing on rocks at the shore. Ps: Name - J.Edger Cougar - head of the Cat Bureau of Investigation

My grandparents had a weekend house on the Gulf of Mexico. We would go out fishing a lot. We would set and fish, and waves slapping gently at the boat would almost put me to sleep. It was so relaxing. Nature is beautiful.😊😽

I have a Siberian Forest Cat named Boris that looks absolutely identical to Louis. Boris does not like to go on my boat, though. I have a Maine Coon that does like boating and hanging out on my dock. He will occasionally engage in "conversation" with the bottlenose dolphins
