Hey Scott. Really glad you are back making videos. This one hit close to home as I did something very similar this fall. I was in a Hobie outback I had rented and was in a deep channel next to a grass flat. I was on a heck of a bite fishing next to some mangroves and was hooking another shrimp on and was really careless and knocked my rod into the water and instinctively reached to grab it and flipped my kayak. Thankfully I was able to grab my rods but everything I didn't have secure is at the bottom. I lost about $200 worth of gear, including ruining my phone. I learned a lesson that day! From now on I'll have everything secure in the kayak. I've had a couple close encounters with manatees in the past and I've heard that they will flip you if you accidentally paddle on top of them or if they surface under your kayak in murky water. Hope all is going well for you and thanks for the videos. By the way, that was a heck of a Red, he wasn't going down without a fight, a fight you'll remember for a while I bet!

I'll be down at Gulf Shores, staying at Island Retreat RV, for the first time this year..April 2nd-9th.. can't wait to experience some good fishin. Maybe I'll run into you.

That is crazy I run around in my PA all the time never had a feeling it wanted to flip but good to know you can't put all weight to sides.

I’ve always felt the same way, on a few occasions before this I’ve fallen out well before the kayak thought about flipping. I guess I just had to pay my dues haha

Man that sucks. I’ve had this happen TWICE now. Lost a rod. In the end a great learning experience, as now every single thing I use has a leash or a strap on it. My rig could go through a fucking tsunami now, and it’s only cause of those falls I took.

Indeed it does, but so does pretty much all the brackish water down here during the hot months. My father in law almost lost an arm to it a couple years back. Main reason I carry isopropyl with me on the kayak for cuts!
