How to get Rapunzel's Braid from Tangled!

I hope you enjoy this braid from Disney's Tangled! Rapunzel is my favorite princess and I was very excited to recreate her hair!
FAQ:
-Do I need to buy synthetic extensions if I already have a set of extensions?
--No, you can place your normal set of extensions into your hair before starting and just follow the braid steps. You may want some Kanekalon hair for the 2 smaller braids. For option 2, save your 2 largest wefts to wrap around your braid at the end.
-How will this look without extensions?
--It would still be pretty, but it would lack the drama of the original hairstyle.
-How heavy is this?
--Its pretty heavy lol, but it's not too bad;I would be okay wearing option 1 for a whole party. Option 2 isn't much heavier, but it is high maintenance because of the length and it's inclination to tangle.
-How long does this take?
--It depends on your level of experience. I did mine in less than 30 minutes, but you will want to practice once or twice before hand so you know what you're doing.

Sam Furch You still could braid after attaching the hair in option 2 :). The reason I didn't was 1: This is how the braid is for Rapunzel at the Disney parks. 2: It would have been more Kanekalon to add in more mini braids and I was trying to minimize additional hair as much as possible, because I was afraid of negative comments for using too many extensions. You're right, a braid all the way down would have looked cool, but that's why I chose what I did :)!

Say I wanted to braid my hair the same length as rapunzel like the braid is floor length... would i have to buy floor length extensions or is there another way to extend the braid like what you did in option 2 but the braid continues on instead of just hanging freely? Thank you :3

Depends on the length of kanekalon that you get. I purchased some, that when pinned into my hair at the same height as hers (the ones in the clip in extensions) they are really close to the floor as is, and I don't need to do option 2 to get the same length. So it is possible to get longer kanekalon if you know where to look.

Instead of buying the hair could you make extensions from wigs?

SUGARANDSPICE1977 I know some cosplayers will cut the tracks of the wigs so that they are back into wefts and use them as extensions either in their hair or in another wig. If you wanted to do that you would have to add clips so you can clip them in to your hair. So short answer: yes, it's possible. I would do as much research as you can to find info on how to do that without destroying your wig :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE KANEKALON HAIR IDEA. I dressed up like Elsa for a Halloween themed piano recital tonight and I really wanted to have the long, thick Elsa braid but my hair is really thin and I didn't want to pay for extensions, but I watched this video yesterday then went out and bought some Kanekalon today and sort of used it like makeshift extensions to give me an Elsa braid and it was awesome. You are a life saver, I had never heard of Kanekalon before and never would have thought to use it but it worked perfectly and I had little girls asking me if I was the real Elsa, haha :)
