There is one thing that I was rather surprised that you didn't add in.. You did not mention the "days upon the year" otherwise called the five intercalary days. And the mythology they had behind it. The sun god Ra foresaw that one of children of Geb and Nut would overthrow him and so forbade his granddaughter Nut to give birth on any day of the year. Nut came to Tehuti(Thoth) and asked him for a solution. He gambled with the Moon God Khonsu for some of his light and with this lady created five days in addition to those created by Ra. And consequently, it was one way to explain why the Moon wanes. On each of those days one of the children was born. Osir, Horu-ur, Set, Aset, and Nebethat. 𓂀 𓆣 𓆄 𓃠 𓏣 𓋹 𓌁 𓎬 𓎃 🙏🏼📿🖖

The intriguing part is the five unlucky or days without name were commemorated in Mesoamerica also when we cross the pre-perihelion Taurid Stream.

The historicity of calendars is truly fascinating. There is so much to be learned about human evolution hidden within the various systems we used to keep time straight. Time. I hope you invest some time into the study of the Mayan calendar as it reveals some very enlightening secrets within. Keep up the great work!

The Greek calendar evidently shifted around depending on where you lived in Greece, and what profession you had. Time is an interesting concept. The book of enoch offers us yet even another perspective on time measurement. Sense of direction is also something that fascinates me to want to learn more about our ancestors. Everyone has always had their own systems of doing things for their organized civilization centers. I find all this kinds of study to just be so inspiring and just really makes me happy. Never thought new discoveries and theories on the past could be so fun to explore.

"tsar feodore IV": I suspect that the Mayan calendar started on the time of Noah's flood around 3083 bc ( not 3113bc). I suspect the Roman empire distorted timeline by around 30 some years to coverup christ dying around 66 ad .I suspect this got done to move christ away from the time of the jewish revolution so that ceaser constantine would agree

Interesting similaritie between the 2nd Lunar Calendar, and these: "The ancient Hindu calendar conceptual design is also found in the Hebrew calendar, the Chinese calendar, and the Babylonian calendar, but different from the Gregorian calendar.[4] Unlike the Gregorian calendar which adds additional days to the lunar month to adjust for the mismatch between twelve lunar cycles (354 lunar days)[5] and nearly 365 solar days, the Hindu calendar maintains the integrity of the lunar month, but inserts an extra full month by complex rules, once every 32-33 months, to ensure that the festivals and crop-related rituals fall in the appropriate season.[4][2]" Wikipedia article "Hindu Calendar"

I love ancient inventions and exploring ancient technology. I'm excited to see what you find going forward. Calendars are such a fundamental system for humans, upon which so many of our activities are focused. It seems natural that these would have been highly developed by ancient civilizations. Obviously you must do a video on the Antikythera Mechanism, which is one of the most fascinating pieces of ancient technology ever discovered. The ancients were far more advanced than many people realize. Thanks for your research helping uncover their secrets.

Its fascinating how in attempting to reconcile the solar & lunar cycles (among others) we can compare civilisations and determine what understanding or knowledge was baked into their calendar. For example the Metonic Calendar being a period of approximately 19 years after which the phases of the moon recur at the same time of the year facilitated construction of a lunisolar calendar that can be dated & traced back to Meton of Athens 5th century BC was incorporated into the Antikythera Mechanism.

Kayleigh thank you and your patrons for the nonbiased narration of the history of the calendar. Many supposedly educated people in the western world/academia still refer today origins of the modern-day calendar is "Babylon", "Mesopotamia", "Roma", etc, and they do this deliberately knowing it's false! As you mentioned in the video, the Egyptian 365-days calendar was already in use during the Old Kingdom 3100 BC., evidenced by calendar marks on jubilees and festivals of the earliest pharaohs. And the fact that the Egyptians were aware of the time lag between a civil and a lunar calendar and corrected it after 1460 years, rather demonstrates the calendar was developed several centuries before the recording of pharaohs list in the old kingdom around 3100BC as appears in Palermo Stone.

The person responsible for creating a calendar in ancient civilizations had major political power. Before G.J.Caesar established his calendar (which was created by an Egyptian mathematician btw.) the Pontifex Maximus (as in Roman example) was creating a calendar for the upcoming year and with that he was basically deciding when the yearly election for consuls would be.

Immanuel Velikovsky in "Worlds in Collision" mentioned many myths around 500 BCE relating to a drastic change in the calendar system. The Chinese were scrambling to rediscover the planting seasons and the Mayans considered the 5 extra days in the calendar cursed. Of course lots of the book is nonsense but those myths have always intrigued me. I would really, really like to know what happened. The Hebrew year was always reckoned in 360 day lunar years so what changed. Kayleigh, if you could tackle this conundrum then I really would appreciate it. I'd be fascinated to see what you turn up. "Worlds in Collision" also mentions a shift in the constellations based upon the night sky drawn in a tomb and a water clock or something. It's been 20 years since I read it so I've forgotten most of it but it is certainly a very intriguing book. Thanks for any answers that you may turn up. I look forward to your new series. I love the way your mind works!

without YAHweh's understanding of his creation orbit we cannot understand the days or times written in the inspired scriptures. YAHweh's creation orbit is a 360 day year, 12 30-day months. the water that was upon the earth from the 17th of the second month (Genesis 7:11) until abating on the 17th of the seventh month (Genesis 8:4) was five months or 150 days (Genesis 7:24/8:3). 5months divided by 150 days shows us each month was 30 days. 30x5 =150 YAHweh's creation orbit of 360 days in a year, 12 30-day months changed. We are told how it changed in 2 Kings 20:10-11 & Isaiah 38:8 one day YAHweh will restore his creation orbit and all the days and times of the inspired scriptures will be known, so too will the day of the second coming for they who shall be saved (Acts 2:47).

Teaching timelines and calendars was probably the most fun of the year, as most of us-never think about why the days of the week are named after Planets and Norse gods and the months, thanks to egos of roman Emporers Julius and Augustus fall months are mis numbered and don’t make sense. Always great to hear your take on things.

A good video. Especially the 24 point circles. You are missing half the glory of the Egyptian mnemonics and religious symbolism. The primordial year was 360 days, to which 5 epegomenal days were added and that is the most important part of the whole story. It is the magic of thoth playing draughts/checkers and not senet, that won 5 days of lunar light to add to the days of solar light. The epic of Gilgamesh actually fills in some blanks here. Firstly you have to understand the relationship between checkers/alquerque and the 360 day year, which is squaring the circle using 25/8th as Pi. As what is commonly termed geodetic greek is 25/24 of the size of the Egyptian measures, the romano-egyptian and Greek units interplay. Stick an 115.2" greek diameter circle in a square that is an 8x8 grid (116.66" Eratosthenes) or 1/10th scale of the Sarsen inner diameter at Stonehenge. This is the 1 passus/second radius circle at the center of which, is the 5ft high armbar of a 6ft high human whose arms define a clock. (i.e The Megalithic 3:4:5 Egg of the arm arc is a 10:1 fractal of the head and ashen cross of ash wednesday before the 40 days of lent to the Easter Flood). The circle cirumference is 360" Geodeic Greek, 375" romano-egyptian. Using a 1:7 gradient to create a tilted square within, attach the corner of a square to the sides of the tilted circle. The sides of the inner square will be 5x5 common geodetic greek cubits of 18", of which 216,000 stade of 400 cubits created the Greek earth circumference. This squares the circle by perimeter with 4x 90" sides = 360". The tilted square is 5x5 Remen diagonal royal cubits of 14.4" geodetic greek or 15" romano-egyptian used for area land measure. This shares the same area as the circle, 57.6 x 57.6 x 3.125 = (14.4 square root 2 x 5)^2 = 10,368 Thus you can not escape the 5x5 and 8x8 nature of the 360 day 25/8th Pi primordial year, upon which the grids of draughts/checkers/alquerque are based. Now the 5 epigomenal days are won by playing 12 new moons against 12 full moons to complete the board game. This is where the mathematical Wadjet eye that only provides 63/64th comes in or 8 squared (see Rhind Mathematical Papyrus 48/50 for more on this). It is the magic of thoth that provides the missing 1/64th and it is the magic of Thoth that provides the extra light from the moon to the sun, which are depicted as left and right eyes. Thus... 30 day old lunar month x 63/64th (360 day year) = 29.53125 day new lunar month (365 day year) 5 days / 1/64th of 30 days = 10.666 months or 315/320 days, which leaves 40 or 45 days where the light of the moon was untouched. Thus relating the 1/8th 1/9th divisions of the primordial year with 5 day and 40 days. The signinficance of the 40 day cycle with a 360 day year ? In the ashmolean museum is a metrological relief of a 4 royal cubit wide fathom as 7 feet, and to understand this is to understand the link between the Anglo-sumerian measures defined by Eratosthenes, with what are mistakenly termed the Romano-egyptian and the Greek, rather than simply one interdependant and common system. [Ziggurat Etemenanki Temple Esagila Babylon which was surveyed and written about and corroborated by the Smith tablet of George Smith (1840 ~ 1876).] Firstly, just as 250,000,000 x 2 x 63/20 = 1,575,000,000 (875 ratio)....250,000,000 x 864/275 x 99/100 = 1,555,200,000 (864 ratio)... 1,620,000,000 (900 ratio) 6/5th x 2/1 = 12/5 6/5th x 3/1 = 18/5 6/5th x 5/2 = 3/1 = Pi 6/5th x 8/3 = 16/5 6/5th x 13/5 = 78/25 6/5th x 21/8 = 63/20 = Pi 6/5th x 34/13 = 204/65 6/5th x 55/21 = 22/7 = Pi 6/5th x 89/34 = 267/185 6/5th x 144/55 = 864/275 = Pi ..and Egyptian fractional approximations for the square root of 2 are 10:7:5 / 14:10:7 or 140:99:70 / 198:140:99 (e.g. bent pyramid) Hence 14.4" (geodetic-greek remen) x 99/70 (root 2) x 4 (fathom) x 864/275 (Pi) x 875/864 (geodetic-greek to anglo-sumerian scaling) = 18x 14.4" or 9 x 28.8" So using 15" greek remen diagonal radii = 9x 15" anglo sumerian arcs and using two as the radii produces 9 x 30" arcs, which is 1 sumerian great cubit of 1.5 barley cubits. So if we wanted to get 9 x 40" to get a 360" anglo-sumerian circle, we would simply use 40" x 99/70 geodetic-greek. Now the 4 remen royal cubit fathom, also happens to be 2.5 megalithic yard or 1 megalithic rod using polar inches at 1.001064 British inches. 14.4 * sqrt 2 x 4 / 2.5 / 12 x 1.001064 = 2.718+ feet for UK, even though the British inch scaled Megalithic rod is 10x10x10 pints of 5x5x5 gallons or 1250 pound. The difference in scale between the British inch and the Eratosthenes anglo-sumerian is 864/275/Pi for real world use. They are in effect two versions of the same measure, with one a proportional value using approximations of Pi and one an objective value using true Pi. Anyway, I need to stress the Fibonacci series as the basis of Pi to compliment the 1/8th year divisions as it directly relates to the solar reflection of the Giza pryamids. The light from the sun is reflected parallel with the ground on different days for each of the three pyramids, when the sun is southing. The gap between them is 5 & 8 days to give a total of 13 days. It is in the middle of the 5 day period or the 3rd of the 5 days, that the 1/8th year division takes place. The 5th day then, is also considered the 3rd day of the 1/8th year, just as the 3rd day of the spring equinox and winter solstice is so important. The Causeway of Menkaure is not aligned due East for instance, but to 'the 3rd day after the Spring Equinox'. Its is the New moons on the 1/8th Year that are defined in the Biblical flood narrative with Genesis 8:5 8:8 8:13 Fibonacci. Obviously I am not arguing with the 12 x 30 days months and 1/3rd year seasons. The Giza causesways are aligned at solstices +- 1/6th year. The 24 point wheel shown, is the primary geometrical component that bypasses spherical trigonometry calculations and uses the 2/24th 3/24th and 4/24th points of the 24 hours clock to provide the exact azimuth of sunrise on the 1/12th, 1/8th and 1/6th divisions of the year. What I am saying is that the shifting of the 5 epegomenal days across the year, was 'necessary' to align with the 1/8th year and soltice/equinox divisions and the solar reflections of the pyramids, along with the new moons that were supposed to fall upon them. Just as the full moons were supposed to fall upon the solstice and equinox (in the primordial 360 day year).

f you want to have some fun, now look up the Mayan Long Count Calendar. It's Zero date, is the mythical creation date of August 11, 3114 BCE. It is still being used by people in the Mayan highlands of Mexico, Guatemala & Honduras. (Hey, it's worked just fine for about 3500 years of Mayan history, and may have started with the Olmecs!) The calendar system relies on a 260 day lunar calendar, which "rolls" inside a 365 day solar calendar and repeats once every 52 years. Longer periods rely on the Long Count which counts, the number of days, from the mythic creation date. Side note: The Mayans used based 20 for most calculations and base 18 for others.

6:00 _"And, of course, the ancient Egyptians did not have the knowledge about the leap day that is needed every 4 years to keep the dates in relation"_ So, the Egyptians had two Lunar calendars, with some approach to the Solar year, and one calendar of 365 days _every_ year, meaning, they did _not_ have any calendar of 365 days three years out of four, and 366 days the fourth year.
@hglundahl

Note, Julian year : 365.25 days Gregorian year : 365.2425 days. Leap years have been around since Julius Caesar who was inspired by the Sothic cycle, the problem is, with one every four years, you get three days too many in four centuries, and this is what was fixed in 1583 in Rome and Spain and Portugal and later in some other countries (Sweden, England, for instance).
