I purchased my K2 230 about 2 months ago and I gotta say I LOVE IT!!! Great 'intro bike' for someone that hasn't ridden in about 20 years. I got it so I can ride with my 16 year old that is just getting into the sport and I'm very impressed!

First off... Thumbs up #4 This was an AWESOME video! Well put together and too the point. I absolutely love my K6 250-EFI. I have my sights set on the KT-250 next. The build quality is VERY good and equivalent to Japanese as you already know. I would like to know what jets (style) is required for jetting the carb? Is it a keihn, or mini copy? I heard they are jetted really lean from the factory. Do you carry parts for these at your dealership? Do you ship? I can't wait to see that KT-250 get its rear brake light, and let the fun begin with the Kayo/ KTM comparison begin! Anything else I should know about the KT-250? Thanks again for the content you create. Now back to my cup of coffee at the Tesla Gigafactory. Later.

We can see how / why you love your K6-EFI as it is a really well put together machine. The KT 250 is very similar in build. The bike are SO different and really are tailored for different styles of riding. We have ordered several Kayo replacement parts recently and they have all come within 5 business days. Still working on your inquiry re: jetting components for the KT 250. It felt great in stock form when I was on it last week. Thanks for watching!

You left out the K6R and my question actually comes with that machine involved. What is the performance difference engine and transmission wise between the K6 EFI and the K6R? Also is there any difference between the suspensions and wheels stuff like that? It would seem to me that if you wish to remotely compete with the Big 6 from Japanese and European manufacturers that the R model would run fuel injection with different performance mappings in a similar fashion. For 2T Enduro the KT will take about every aftermarket available for a Yamaha DT 230 and all the bits and bobs that have been made for the GPX TSE 250r. I will say this my buddy has a 2021.5 GPX TSE-250R that he shelled out the money for a Smart Carb upgrade and customized a Procircuit Platinum series pipe for a YZ 250 so that it would replace the GPX stock expansion chamber, all of which really livened that machine up and made it quite the rocket. That said, the powertrain is the only facet that is shared between the GPX TSE-250R and Kayo KT-250. What is more remarkable is that the Kayo has what I feel is the better and more rugged chassis and suspension and comes in a couple hundred dollars cheaper on MSRP making it the better choice for someone who may wish to do competitive Enduro riding. Do not get me wrong the GPX is a solid machine for more moderate adventure riding like logging trails, dunes, and such but when it comes to hard core Boulder climbing, stump hopping, single track mixed terrain traversing the Kayo is going to handle the rigors with lesser chance of chassis breakage. If the necks are the same I would venture to say that adapting the more rugged MX suspension of the K6r to the KT250 would make it the ultimate do all machine. Anyway thanks for demoing these machines and I have to agree that given the pricepoint and the quality of manufacture that they come in at someone looking to purchase a bike could buy new, do many of the same upgrades they would if buying a used offering from the Big names, and not inherit any undisclosed gremlins generally found with already used and abused machines.

Is there a temporary modification that could be done to the K6 250 EFI to "tame it" a bit until the rider builds experience and confidence? I'm thinking something like a large sprocket that isn't built for speed but does better at slower speeds.
@MotoCityTV
@MotoCityTV 3 жыл бұрын
You would actually need to gear it the other direction (smaller rear sprocket) to tame it a bit... This would give it "longer legs" and a higher top speed but it would significantly mellow out the low end rpm's and gears. If you went BIGGER in the rear the bike would be more twitchy at low speeds, would want to wheelie everywhere and would hit top speed quicker but the bike would go slower... Hope that was explained well!
@chadjohnson7712
@chadjohnson7712 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly the best way to tame a bike is just a open field the right safety gear and practice... Don't be afraid of the bike be confident you are in control it only goes as fast as you want it to... Drive on grass for awhile before getting into the dirt it can be tricky cause dirt bikes move alot on sand and dirt but once you gain confidence and understand if you stay on the throttle the bike will stay up... Don't be afraid to get some speed you will feel more balanced. Also I will say you can't be afraid of wrecking if thats the case you will be overthinking and making bad decisions. Have confidence Have fun.

@@MotoCityTV Thanks! That's helpful. I'm thinking of going with a larger sprocket. I want to go slower in tight spaces without having to use so much clutch and risk stalling. I'm riding in my backyard until I break it in more and get used to it. (I rent a Honda 230 CRF or CRF250F, which are easier for me to ride,, and I can touch the grou d flat footed on them). My yard is small with tight turns. I stalled out once and dropped the bike because I eased up on the clutch too much as I did a tight turn. That bike wants to move out fast in open terrain! I can tell. I'm looking for maneuverability right now to get around tough winding trails and up an unexpected hill (and around the shed, benches, tree in my backyard). Years ago I put a larger sprocket on my little Kawasaki KE 100 and it made all the difference for the style of riding I did then. Boosted the low end power at slower speeds. I'm hoping it does the same for me now. 😀
@lisagilley
@lisagilley 3 жыл бұрын
@@chadjohnson7712 You're right. I'm a little afraid to load the thing and take it out to where I've been riding until I get used to it and maybe set it up a little differently. I also want to do the first oil change and get it checked before I do that. I would really feel more comfortable if I could touch the ground flat footed on both sides. I have heard of a "lowering link." I also heard you can adjust the shocks to sag a little more without causing too much trouble. Smaller tires doesn't seem like a good idea, if even possible. There is also shaving the seat foam, but that seat is pretty thin already. I need to find a mechanic near me who can help.

As for what we can see... the differences between the K2 230 and the T2 230 are as follows: The frame is different, the K2 is the "newer bike" which holds more gas, has 2.5" more ground clearance, and is 1" shorter than the T2 230. It's also $100 less expensive which is interesting. We did reach out to our Kayo Rep asking for MORE information than we provided above and he said, "Other than what you have called out... the K series bikes will replace the T series bikes once the T series bikes sell through."
@danschroeder6228
@danschroeder6228 3 жыл бұрын
@@MotoCityTV thank you. I did some more research, here is what I found out. The older T series has a link set up for the rear suspension, which (in my opinion) is far superior to the NON link set up in the K2. In my experience it is extremely difficult to dial in a non link set up unless you have a dual type shock, or a progressive rate spring. I inquired about the rear shock and spring and was told they were carried over from the T2, as were the front shocks, levers, and handlebars. Frame is redesigned, tucking the engine further up, giving it more ground clearance, swingarm is shorter. Can't say I'm convinced the new design is for the better. I'd be interested in a side by side review over different types of terrain. Thank you for your reply!!

I opted out of buying Kayo though I like the styling, and prices. Parts availability (Good Lucky') Parts Source (None) Owners manual , some good info but woefully inadequate Kayo US distributer USELESS, don't even respond US dealers, do not respond to inquiries. Specs, not counting words like; 'nice power' : Curb Weight NO Shock Travel Front NO Shock Travel Rear NO HP Torque NO Dyno NO Compression NO Stator Wattage NO I assume with any bike that I own, every part on the bike not counting the frame will need replacing some parts a heck of a lot sooner than one might expect, with Kayo, there are no parts available that I can find online or by asking dealerships and even Kayo's US importer. When someone tells you that these bikes like some other chinese imports are totally interchangeable with bikes like CRF110 , or YZ125 etc, they are full of crap, I've been down that road with other bikes, you can get lucky on a part, that is all. After my research, when I see the name KAYO, I run in the other direction. Frankly, the TAO's and Apollo bikes have no models that I have any interest in, though they probably have adequate parts support, which is probably my biggest concern. If you're getting a Kayo to putt around the back yard with, the bike will probably serve you well. If you want honest and useful tech answers from Kayo dealers and Kayo importers, forget about it..
