I swear, the best things that people love that are somewhat stereotypes are taken away by people with literally no heritage related to it saying that it is "offensive". Take the Taco Bell chihuahua, for example. My mom had some Mexican friends who LOVED the dang thing, but no, people said "GET RID OF IT IT OFFENSIVE" with no input from the people who literally are from/have heritage from the area it originates from. In other words, thanks for voicing your opinion here. It just proves that something that looks "offensive" to people who know barely anything about it can be loved by people who know more.

@@KaypeaCreations Yes, a cannibalistic entity is in a lot of cultures but the name "wendigo" ( or windigo) refer to the specific entity from the Algonquin mythology which is considered taboo by them. Unfortunately, the pop culture used the name for many monsters, that's why a lot of people don't know the origin of the name and what it really means (cannibalism and psychosis). Dollightful listed some articles on the subject on her video which talk about that. I can understand why she felt the need to take down the video, she always wanted to depict the entity like the original myth but now that she knows more about it and what it means, I feel that she was uncomfortable leaving the video up.

To be honest, I didn't see any hate comments on her doll prior to the last video she posted so I don't know where people get that she was canceled or something like that ( if you have any to show me, I will gladly look them up). Here is some more info about the wendigo- Wendigo is a cree Indian word. It means "Evil that devours," They're hundreds of years old. Once was a man sometimes an Indian or other times a frontiersmen or a miner or hunter. During some harsh winter, cut off of supplies, helping the human to start to cannibalize other members of the tripe or camp. Cultures all over the world belive that eating flesh gives a person certain "abilities" speed, strength, immortality. If you can eat enough of it over the years you become this-less-human thing. You're allways hungry.

The doll turned out eirily beautiful, I also just wanna say Dollightful. It turned out so beautiful but people were saying it was offensive to native American culture which I am not native American so I cannot speak for anyone who is and saw the video, but I do belive most the people who said those things weren't native American and we're just going off one or two comments of people being offended she shouldn't have had to take that doll from her collection just because of some people who weren't even native American and going off of the apology and other videos most the people who watched the original video weren't offended at all and we're upset she took it down, sorry I know it's annoying getting all these comments
@Darknexea3 жыл бұрын
I advise rewatching Dollightful apology video because it is not what she said. Katherine said that she received some messages for the past months addressing this issue (it really doesn't sound as a recurrent thing happening) and she decided to do more research on the wendigo (the articles she used are listed in her video). In her doll tutorial, she said that she wanted the doll to be as close to the real myth as possible and as she got more information on it, she felt that she did something wrong because of what the wendigo really mean in the original Algonquin myth. I looked for the messages people were talking about, the one cancelling her and bashing her doll and I didn't found any prior to the apology video. So I don't know where people got the impression she was asked to removed the video by a crowd of angry people. Katherine is a sweet and a considerate artist, her reaction is definitely not out of character. Now, we should respect her decision and move on.

How did dollightful got hate from this doll and u did not ??? Good question?
@3llevate3 жыл бұрын
Because of accuracy? Dollightful has millions of views and she modified (a lot) a mythical creature associated with native American culture (from what i understand)

Fantastic! When I saw the thumbnail I tought it was a 3d model or a drawing, but discovering it was an handmade posable sculpture and looking at how you made it was awesome. Also it looks so beautiful and realistic.

How did I not find this video sooner?! When I was younger I was always fascinated with monsters and creatures of folklore or just creations. The Wendigo will always be my top favorite as it also corresponds with my Native American part of my family. I’m determined to make this gorgeous beast, thank you 😊

This is a beautiful doll! Great job!!!! Honestly I hope you don’t get hate for it from either other dollightful fans who are bitter (low key I am because I loved that doll I just know that you don’t deserve the salt) or whoever gave dollightful hate for her doll (if it really was cancel culture that pressured her to do it)
@kittennight33053 жыл бұрын
Its not bitter. And no one is attacking her. We are all just expressing our opinions.

I think the above angle is good because you can see past the hands, but try make it in an angle so that your head doesn't block the view either. Hope it helps

The fact that dollightful was forced to remove the video but other wendigo sculpture/arts are okay?? all of them seem okay to me, from a native american. anyway, love the doll ♥
@JamieMand5 жыл бұрын
A tip for filming: try placing the camera pretty high, facing down. Then place the camera on de opposite side of your dominant hand (you are right handed, so for you the camera should be on your left side). Love the sculpture!!!
@Aurora-bf4xg6 жыл бұрын
Ima the same way with cameras and tech in general but what I learned the best angle for specially if you’re using your hands a lot is to have a camera over the subject or the thing that you’re making that way your hands won’t get in the way as much and block the camera you just have to make sure your head isn’t like moving in front of the lens
@jaceyrenfro90035 жыл бұрын
I have seen a lot of other artist on youtube use an above camera angle because they had the same problem where their hands cover the art. I would try to set up the above angle so we could see everything. That's all I know I hope it helps. I love your work you are so amazing. I hope to have your skills some day. ♡

Great work! There's a horror movie called the Ritual, and your creature reminds me of the one in the film that chases the protagonist. Very spot on in appearance.

That monster is a Norse god. I think it’s a child of Loki ” don’t quote me on that I might be misinformed “. But I’ve seen the name Jotunn and the name Moder being talked about
