Because Tatar and Kazakh are both Kipchak languages while Turkish is Oghuz. Volga Tatar and Kazakh are hard for me as a Turkish person. Crimean Tatar on the other hand, if we are talking about the standard version, is very easy to understand for me because of the Oghuz impact on the language

As a Romanian, turkish feels more natural. Maybe because we took so many day-to-day words like "tacâm", "caldarîm", "hamac", "bacșiș", "caisă", "capac" from the Uzes and Peçenegs (Oğuz peoples), who settled here from the 10th century. And we don't have turkic words in our language only because we lived under Ottoman influence, but also because MANY turkic migrations had taken place before this on our lands. Most important and impactful were the Uz and Cuman periods. We also have many cities with turkic names such as Babadag, Peceneaga in Dobruja and Oituz in Moldova. 🇷🇴❤️🇰🇿

In Turkish we can also use “okuyuş” “öğreniş” “yazış” instead of the “mak/mek endings😃. For example: “learning” would be “öğrenmek” but “the learn” would be “öğreniş”. It would be strange if you just use iş/uş/üş endings but you can if you want to😅.

@BerkEarl Жыл бұрын
They get the main subjects in speaking. Both turkic languages (not turkish*) are from the same root. You need to know the changing rules e.g. zhyldyz yıldız 🌟, or the endings of verbs -uv 🇰🇿 and -mak/-mek 🇹🇷. Through the years both languages got separated and penetrated by other languages (lean words). In my experience a kazakh speaker can understand and speak in a good way turkish within a month also vice versa.

@@muramasa870 unfortunately other than the grammar and a certain amount of common words the two are not mutually intelligible. It's easier to understand in written form tho. Also some Turkic words are only used in idioms or are rarely known in Turkish. For example, "bet" meaning face in Kazakh exists in the Turkish idiom "beti benzi atmış" (his/her face grown pale as sheet) but we normally say yüz. Or gelin güvey, ev bark etc.
