How does Russian government manage so many different ethnics and cultures under it's rule without any riots, ethnic conflicts, or even civil wars?
@GeoPerspective2 жыл бұрын
I haven't given this interesting question enough thought. I think Chinese and Russian playbook is pretty similar. The Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and now the Russian Federation has been Russianising its hinterlands for some 150 years now. For a lot countries the Soviet Union even brought a lot of positive development and infrastructure that otherwise would not have been built. And since its been such a long time while those people are ethnically distinct from Russians they have accept both the Russian and their own cultures simultaneously. Just thinking out loud ....
@avadhutagita3741 Жыл бұрын
It's not about the government, but about the general mentality of ethnics. In Russia, not multiculturalism, but the so-called "friendship of ethnics." If there was multiculturalism, then all ethnics would be at enmity with each other to this day. You need to study the history of Russia and how all these ethnics united among themselves. But you must understand that all nations exist in peace only in Russia (indigenous nations within the current borders of Russia). But in Russia there are many migrants from the Asian republics of the USSR who go to work in Russia, they aren't friendly to Russia. Many of them are criminals.🙁

John 3.16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Neither "multiculturalism" nor "diversity" are a strength, and neither are anywhere close to being the most interesting aspects of Russian society.

Most Tatars are Muslims only nominally. Tatars are no more religious than Russians. Many are atheists or agnostics. To call Tatarstan a Muslim region is just as wrong as calling some Russian region an "Orthodox Christian" region. No, Tatarstan is definitely a secular region, unlike, for example, Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan where the population is much more religious.

Well, tatars are Muslims, what's wrong with that? Also as someone who lives in Kazan, but is not tatar, i can say that there isn't really much Islamic influence on our daily life. We only get the benefits - more holidays. Also, the culture of helping people isn't dead here like in other cities in Russia

@kaıser Some Tatars are atheists or agnostics. And there is a significant minority of Christian Tatars (they are called Kryashens, these are ancestors of those who were forcibly converted to Orthodox Christianity in the 16-19th centuries).

The pragmatic approach by other countries, as they could not see how Tatarstan, being in the middle of Russian territory, formerly CCCP, could maintain independence. Also, the tatars controlled a lot of Russia, and their city, Sarai, in the Volga area, was close to Moscow. Russia probably has not forgotten this, but the natural resources of Tatarstan are definite reasons for Russian imperialism, just like the Crimean area in Ukraine, plus the Crimea gives Russia a naval presence in the Black Sea
