I'm always amazed at how furious this man sounds. Inspiring

This movie hits me so hard. I don't even really know why. It is just the darkest and most horribly depressing, nihilistic mess I have ever seen. A truly under-appreciated landmark of cinema genius. I'll never recover from the first time I saw Izo. When I think about it, I feel this crushing loneliness and just want to find someone to hold onto. Truly remarkable. Both the music and the filmwork.

This film is a complete masterpiece when it comes to dialogue, philosophy, atmosphere, music and cinematography. I’ve loved this film for many years and I’m glad it’s had such an effect on not only myself.

I love it so soooo much and it is hard to get a good release of. Hard to show people. I think it is without a doubt the best thing Miike made.

This movie is not "nihilistic" not in one aspect, the opposite is the case. That's realy sad, that you missed the point. And by the way Nihilism is the most stupid massideology that ever exists and it is hardly imaginable to imagine a more stupid mindset than the nihilistic one - to thinking nihilistic is the maximum of stupidness a human can reach. You know almost everything that you can know but understand nothing, that is Nihilism.

I'd like to understand Jap to understand this movie. If you liked it, I recommend you "Bolivia", by Caetano. Close to that point, the tragedy we create ourselves. Not gore at all. But it is full of images and music you'll never find in fk Hollywood, Netflix, disney or amazon.

They did a pretty damn good job fitting this into the movie. It didn't feel very forced or out of place. I'd really like to acquire some of his stuff. Not exactly easy to find. Maybe I'm not looking in right places though.

knows somebody the song which is played in the background when izo makes love to the ''mother''... it begins with a piano part, and then tomokawa sings in a very soft voice!?!?!?

Yes, it is the song "Tougen". It is contained in his albums "Dance A Bondori Alone" (1995) and "Gazing At One Time or Another" (2004), the latter of which contains versions of all songs played in Izo. I think, that there might even be a version of this song on youtube...

i think the movie requires too much of a artistic theater-like taste, which i don't think i have. it's a good movie, i suppose, if you consider the art only.. but uh, kazuki's the man.
