I've been a fan of his work for a while, but after having found and watched interviews with him on youtube, I admire him even more. He is wonderfully eloquent about the process of writing itself. I literally don't know any author with whom to compare him with in this respect. I'm utterly amazed with the way that Mr. Ishiguro describes his novels. He does it so well and with such ease. He manages not only to highlight the most important things about his works but also raise the themes discussed into them to universal level. It is like he is a literature professor and writer all in one...or perhaps to be more precise, it is like he himself is a work of literature, showing us deeper understanding of life, embodying everything literature is with his words. Great video, thanks for sharing!

To the person who devised the musical overlap to the dulcet tones of the author: I'd like to poke a sharp stick in your ear for ruining this video...

"You must do all you can to make these years happy ones for yourself and your husband. We may never meet again Mrs. Benn, that is why I'm allowing myself to be so bold, if you'll forgive me." The saddest and most powerful scene in The Remains of the Day (although about equal with the book scene, they are both amazing). FYI, Ishiguro co-wrote the screenplay.

He is as eloquent and interesting a speaker as he is a writer. Very much enjoyed a bit of his cheeky humor in this segment. Ishiguro is one of the greats, and he is the best writer of our time in my opinion. Never Let Me Go is a beautifully written book- profound and one that should be reread at different times of one's life.

Remains of The Day reminds me so much of The Road Not Taken in that both deal with this idea of not understanding our choices or the bigger picture and then absurdly rationalizing later

The Remains of the Day contains a much darker secret about Mr. Stevens which is hinted at in the book. His being an unreliable narrator helps to mask the mystery, but not quite.

Don’t agree with him about Lord Darlington being a ‘bad’ person. He begins with an honourable desire to help the German people and only becomes a fascist when he falls under bad influences.

Such a beautiful prose writer, but anytime I've never heard him discuss his own work I've always been surprised at how shallow his takes on his own work are. I met him in Chicago once and had a little talk. I had the same impression there. His work is brilliantly crafted but not inspired. Maybe that doesn't matter, but there you go.

"I think that's very unfair" you wrote a book and gave it to the masses to interpret in their own ways. They have a right to see this book in a way you don't seem fit. Especially if a majority of your readers do not get the point you were initially writing about for Never Let Me Go. You are an amazing writer and your skills impress me so much and you create stories that make me think about my own life and rethink my own ways of thinking as well, but... I think it's unfair to bag on your readers and dismissing their interpretations just because it doesn't agree with you.
