I can't help but agree. Chizuru is a coward. She wont defend herself and she's watching kazuya stupidly crucify himself because of some stupid promise to protect her. Yes, protect her from harm and protect her from pain...but not at the cost of everyone who sincerely cares about you while the girl who can't be sincere, watches you take an arrow to the knee for no reason. Kazuya's statements? Dumb lol. I get it, you suck at lying bro, but at least be honest. You love her and thought you could court her using the rental girlfriend stuff as an excuse. I agree with you that it was his best effort. He avoided to explain the rental girlfriend thing. That he did spend money on it. But how does Chizz talk with Kazz? Everything she did was just acting. As she used to say: "This is what a girlfriend does." The problem is, Nagomi and some others do not know that Chizz's presence is just an act. You could say they had been tricked. @applebob just here me out chizaru is probably the most kind in this situation because from day as Kazuya's grandma stated she saw something no one else can or is willing here you have a guy who is ridiculed by literally everyone in his life his friends apparently don't think highly of him nor his family look at how they all react to him even having a girlfriend their like no way not just with chizaru but even Mami they say things like oh you should count yourself lucky for the month you got to spend with her and when they ask him about sleeping with chizaru and he says no they were like good cause basically after she eventually leaves you its only downhill from here so here you have this guy who just wants to be seen and then you have chizaru who landed in a lie by happenstance and then they actually connect and she stays along for the ride even though the lie potentially could blow her entire life apart she really has more to lose than him but its her feelings that even with all of this at stake that keeps her there and going deeper into the situation cause what does kazuya have to lose really the respect no one in his life has for him already and her every decision so far has been driven by fear and doubt but yet never turns her back on him and when he says its all on me it really is the only mistake she made was following him to that hospital but mami set all of this in motion and chizaru is being manipulated by her ruka and her own self doubt so how can she be honest about her feelings when she can't really even process them I just don't think she is as bad as you might think

I think she has good intentions but I think despite grandma's words to her when they were bathing together about her not caring if she wasn't who she said she was. I feel chizuru feels if they are honest then she will lose the new connections she's made with his family. I feel she doesn't want that which is why she runs from kazu when he goes to confess and why she looked so upset about it being thrown out as it was. I do however believe it would have been far better for them to just come out and as you say tell the truth, yeah I feel like most of what we are seeing is possibly her fear of losing anymore connections now she has a connections that's built off a lie though she probably wished it wasn't. Although we as the viewers can clearly see kazu has a thing for chizuru I don't think chizuru herself sees that... or she's going for the whole close one door before opening another which I completely support.

In fact, if you go to a youtube interview with a rental girlfriend by Asian boss, the interviewee also mentions she took a liking to some guys who rented her but had to keep a distance to prevent things from developing. With Chizuru though, she was in too deep already thanks to a number of early incidence. Her constant sense of guilt for both Ruka and her job stopped her from responding directly and openly but there are times when external pressure or her own feeling took away her composure to act cool. That's what makes her love for Kazuya even more precious because she acts out of control because of love.

But after 3months of self-isolating and a little bit of push from her neighbour, she realise she couldn't contain it and did open up a little. I guess she also wanted to make sure it wasn't just impulsive, from a few favours he did for her. The reason for her to ask for a little time even after. Real relationship takes time to build. I perfer them take it slow. That's the only way to build a true bond that doesn't break like just giving into your lust and have a one night stand.

20 minutes for 17 pages of manga. That is how long it would take me to explain the entire story so far. I mean seriously, read an arc. Any arc. You've just read the basics of every other arc of this story. Kazuya starts in position we can relate to, we almost see him succeed, but it just eludes him and he's back to square one. That is the entire plot. Well the almost succeeds is a lie, it's more like he almost holds her hand. I can guess why you're still invested and it's probably because you relate to Kazuya on a deep level. In the end, you want him to succeed because it means that maybe there's hope for you But do you not get tired of the constant lack progress? That every arc is clawing tooth and nail to get back to the end of the last Or do you believe that Kazuya is actually winning? I started watching this with the same attitude as you, "I know I'm just paying her, but surely, there's got to be something real hidden beneath the money" You and I both wanted it to be true. For Kazuya's sake. For our sake. But therein lies the problem. All of this is a lie. A lie created specifically to capture the attention of us weebs. I mean you can't tell me that you haven't felt like Miyajima hasn't been fucking us with some of these chapters. My friend, you can do so much better. There's so much world out there.

she's kind i guess the lies she tells are her version of kindness, she hides the things she hides because she knows telling the truth would hurt. and if there's no GOOD reason for them to know, they're better off not knowing. u can see this with what she hides from kazuya about her and umi... she has no reason to tell him they're a bit closer than he believes because, why does he need to know? what would him knowing accomplish? there's also the fact that the author says only someone like mizuhara would be able to look at kazuya and not throw him away (like mami, and all the other girls that rejected him did). she picks him up when he's pathetic and brings him out of it when she can and that bit about her grandma being the one she loves most? kazuya doesn't exactly know or understand why she hid the truth from her grandmother. it wasn't just for sayuri's benefit. it was for him too, when it came down to it, she pretty much chose to protect him as well from sayuri thinking less of him. kazuya asks himself in that chapter "who gives a shit about my and my feelings?" well the answer was mizuhara, she did what she did with him in mind as well... and i'm really only trying to counter this point kazuya makes because it seems reiji had kazuya say the opposite of what was true for his entire confession, which would mean there's someone else out there besides her grandmother that she loves the most
