No they aren't. Just bad story telling. You have to pay attention to post credit scene. I think he missed it on his stream. They show postcards of everyone and they show her without Azazel hand looking back and I think Claudio's foot shows a bit. They both are alive and well in her character episode ending too with an altered ending that I wish they went more with in the main story. Makes Zafina and Claudio appear way stronger than they made them look in the main story.

They really did Zafina dirty in the story mode! A lot of waisted potential to make her stand out a bit considering the effort they put into her redesign. She could have had a brief moment to stand off with Kazuya and to speak and brief him on the lore of the two evil stars along with his role and that she could not allow his plans to succeed. She could have then had a moment of her seal Claudio placed on left arm being broken by Azazel's enraged spirit overtaking her by being in Kazuya's presence to a point to force his claw hand to appear and sending her in a enraged mode similar to one of her outros to lash out and attack him with his powers a bit before Kazuya in Devil form would eventually get the upper hand and then he would probably grab and subdue her similar to like he did and then extract Azazel spirit from her at that point to draw him out in his full form. Instead they make her rush right into danger and get ousted just like that!! This made her look very naive and weak. How can you sell the idea of her character to new players using her this way in the main storyline? Found it ironic during TMM stream he actually was like Zafina would not be a jobber and that's exactly what they made her!! They made up for it a bit in her character episode ending but so disappointed in the main story direction for her.

​​​@@via_negativa6183 Only now able to respond back but you aren't wrong they did heavily nerf her a lot and took so many legacy strings from her stances along with losing many of her stance transitions. They did do more subtraction than addition to her over other characters. She only really got one new regular move which was WR 1+2 that replaced her old UF 1+2. They at least let her keep her added moves she got in Season 4 in T7 - df4 homing attack in mantis to TRT, 1,4 to TRT from SCR along with the d4 mantis transition to TRT The added Azazel attacks are very strong and effective from her stances but then they added the health lost mechanic to all them along with her just frame b1 1+2 and parry on activation even before taking a hit. I do get that this was done as a way to incentive Heat mode for her along with a more aggressive playstyle in Tekken 8 .It comes at a benefit of not losing health from using Azazel attacks and parry along with making the new df1 stance attacks power crushes but you can only get that benefit in a limited time frame per round that you have to carefully manage. Add all this to her reduced move list and somewhat reduced movement really does take a big toll on her. The changes for Tekken 8 do give her gameplay a unique dynamic though now even if it makes her a lot weaker in a lot of ways on paper over how she was in Tekken 7. I'm slowly adjusting to her nerfs and changes but I can see why it would cripple her in high level play and could discourage new players from picking her up. Shadow20z has been showing Zafina still has strength if used right but I feel you need firm knowledge of her already to get the most out of her now.
