Even though Azazel got killed easily, they expanded on his origin enough in this game to make him a vital component to the Mishima bloodline's story, which is explaining that Azazel being the reason for Hachijo clan carrying the devil gene. Plus, Azazel was technically had just been freed from his sealed state moments before Kazuya obliterated and absorbed him into his being. And if I remember correctly, he was literally destroyed by Jin just right after he was freed back in T6 too.
