Did General Motors pay the press NOT to talk about MPG? I have seen videos where the dash has said 17MPG on the work truck and 14.5MPG on the Z71. This is truly horrific fuel economy. You can literally buy a V6 Frontier and get better numbers.
@joeamith838

I think that's because press fleet drives drives it like they stole it...but I agree, would much rather have a V6 than the turbo 4.

Different manufacturers may set up agreements with press to get a first look at their product without disclosing specific details such as certain specs like fuel economy (the EPA may not have finalized official numbers at the time the manufacturer chooses the press to see their product.) Others only allow people to show the exterior and others ask the press not to disclose ride and handling feel. The more you know 🌠

Unofficial MPG (from various videos with trip odometer showing hundreds of miles): Z71 - 14.5MPG. W/T - 17MPG. Expect this to translate to hwy MPG of maybe 22, which classes it alongside V6 Frontier Pro 4X. Pass.

These are great trucks until you see the price tag and realize there is 0 value for money to be had at every trim level. You wanna make a work truck? Fine but price it accordingly. Here we have $40k trucks which are poorly equipped and have nothing but plastics for all the touch points. At $20k, sure I’m game. But for $40k, consumers have to stop letting companies do this to them.

All I care about is offroading. I don't care about towing or how fast it can go on the highway. I offroad, that's it. This is a winner due to that torque. Now if it can have reliability like my 4Runner, I'd buy one and maybe it does, I don't know. Seems the Tacoma has been falling off in reliability the last model so hopefully a new model will be better but I'm hearing good things about this. I'm not a fanboy of brands, I buy what works and lasts.

My husband has had a ZR2 since they released in 2017, and seems VERY disappointed with there only being one engine option, because we have nothing but bad experiences with small turbo engines. We aren't happy about just the crew cab, either. After excitedly waiting so long for the next gen Colorado to be unveiled released, and now knowing what I know, I think my husband has decided to upgrade has 2017 ZR2 to a 2022. He adores that truck. The 2023 is gorgeous, but if it has the same engine as the others, it is terribly over priced. Ford, Ram and other competing companies make their performance vehicles distinct. The way they increase the power is basically software update that can be done to any 2023 Colorado engine, even after buying it. That it absurd. Chevy needs to give us a unique engine option for the ZR2. Even Ford put a different engine in their Bronco Raptor. Toyota will be offering higher power hybrid options in their TRD lineups. Chevy needs to get it together. Saving money on production is ALL they are concerned with

Just food for thought, but GM's 2.7T is pretty large, not only for a 4 cyl turbo, but also a 4 cyl on its own. Most small turbo engines sold as of right now are sitting around 1.2-1.6L mark. Not only that, this new 2.7 is pushing better stats and MPG than an FCA HEMI engine used in the ram Trucks. Once again, just food for thought. I'm not much of a fan of the 4cyl turbo engines but it's definitely worth a test drive. I Have some buddies right now with that 2.7 in their full-size Silverado's and they seem to really like it.

Not so sure. I’ve a 2011 3.5L EcoBoost turbo. Amazing engine. I’ve towed 10k lb cargo vans and tractors in the mountains of CO and the highways of WTX and NM. Out pulls any diesel I’ve run and certainly any v8 gas (I’ve had both the 5.4L and 4.6L). My truck has 110,000+ miles on it and still going strong. It’s a V6, so I imagine an I4 rated at 3/4 the towing capacity might do just fine.

Have troddle response done properly and a good V6 that doesn't need premium fuel or else suffer dmg, a reality about turbos. Their tech and comfort trims are terribly divided and arranged and it's very frustrating.
