Nothing wrong with speaking Multilanguage in the home. Sure, it's difficult for the children, but trust me they will thank for that when they get older. I'm sure he feels pride in owning his own restaurant, but the thing that I luv about how he treats his staff is that he doesn't talk down to them that's the type of boss you want. Also, what nice is that he makes the staff feel like they are part of the restaurant and take part ownership. Lovely family wish him success in Korea.

If they get enough language exposure it shouldn't be a problem. It becomes a issue if they don't have enough contact with spanish if, for example, they don't watch tv in spanish and their father is not close to them.

you know it's easy to say " he should learn korean" but trust me, it's not that easy when you are an adult, have a work as difficult as cuisine, a marriage and two kids to raise, he does not have enough time to do it, as you can see his english it's not that good, nevertheless he tries his best to speak it, i'm sure he's willing to acquire this new language and he'll do it soon, let's cheer for him :)

His job is in the service industry, all his employees are Koreans, he lives in Korea and has lived there for 4 years. He should at the very least be conversational in the language. Living in a country for 4 years and only speaking a handful of words? That's just pure laziness.

+what2143 I mean the asian people that live in my country don't speak spanish or even english, just words and they open convenience stores.. It's not really about being lazy but to learn a new language, you need to sit down, learn and practice everyday. He is a busy man, I doubt he has enough free time to do so. Why doesn't the grandmother learn spanish or english then?
@cee_el
@cee_el 6 жыл бұрын
heyitsrosie the grandma is A LOT older. That’s a different situation for an elder. Plus he is living in Korea.. so you would expect that right? Ive been living in Japan for over two years but after I stopped studying at a language school, I never used Japanese because I was working at an English school. I pretty much never used it for a whole year so my Japanese is shit BUT I still can order food and understand and say basic words here and there so I know what it’s like to be busy and have no time to study. It seems like he doesn’t even know the basic words, let alone, form a sentence.

Dad should only speak in Spanish at home, so kids can learn Spanish. There's a plenty of opportunity for kids to learn Korean later on anyway. Being multilingual is such a privilege for the kids.

I wish people would quit saying he or she should learn Korean. Not many people can actually speak another language fluently, plus he owns a business and he's a father, there is only so much time in a day. I also notice how alot of these foreign spouses almost seem like they are just there to provide children. Like the distance between the spouses sometimes is noticeable. And then children are raised to be Korean when in reality they are multiracial.

It's so hard to dedicate time to learn another language when you have to work hard and earn a living. He should learn Korean but I really sympathize. I can't ever understand bastardizing the authenticity of a cuisine to make more Korean (or whatever culture it may be). Paella is Spanish. People should get to taste, learn about and appreciate other cuisines and cultures.

what2143 He has two children who he spends time with whenever he is free and only has one day off. You’re probably too young to understand how hard it is to do anything, even a hobby, in your free time when you have a full time job. Especially if you have a family.
@utah123ify
@utah123ify 6 жыл бұрын
Kripa G It makes no fucking difference... He's lived in Korea for 4 fucking years and he works in the service industry, yet he can't say anything other than a few words. I'm not saying he should be fluent, but he should know a lot more than he already does. Not to mention that learning Korean is a skill and an asset when you live in Korea. He'll also be able to communicate better with his children. I'm in my mid 30s, I learned how to speak Spanish because I the company I worked for was based in Buenos Aires. It took me a year to get pretty decent at the language, there's literally no excuse to be illiterate in the language of a country you live and work in long term. So take your "DAE too young to understand" excuse elsewhere. You Westerners always make excuses for why you don't learn a language when you emigrate abroad, but you constantly complain about immigrants who don't speak your language.

He needs to hire a proper manager/host. He can't rely on his wife for that, seems she is already working an exhausted. Get someone bilingual who knows fine dining and wine. Also, for lunch create a specific and reduced menu. Marketing... you need to do it. What is he doing right now? People need to know his restaurant exists.

He needs to adapt and change his lunch menu to include friendlier priced options. He’s talented and can turn humble ingredients into fabulous feasts. It’s a bit formal and neutral for today’s market. Flamenco music and infusion of colorful Spanish culture into the restaurant atmosphere would be more enjoyable than the current minimalist formal atmosphere. People not only want to enjoy good food, they want to relieve stress and have fun when they dine out. I agree with staff, it’s important to keep working atmosphere fun, not stressful. You can only perform at your best when you are feeling well/happy.

Watching this reminded me why I stopped wanting to work on the line. I work Garde Manger which is cold food. It's a lot less stressful, but often times a lot more work, because it's usually the first line to get attacked. Appetizers and salads are first defense in most restaurants then Soup/Sauce/Saute and last is Grill/Broiler. I've rarely gotten a chance to work Grill/Broiler because I'm short and a woman. I don't really mind. I'm better in Garde Manger and Pastry (usually called Pantry on the line)
