Johnathan Poole I agree on Chavez and Tejada especially, but you also have to remember that the Yankees were LOADED back then. They were coming off 3 titles in 4 years, and now they were signing Giambi, and Boston got Damon. So they lost their best hitter, their leadoff man, and their closer all in one off season, that's tough to bounce back from, even WITH that great rotation you mentioned and Tejada & Chavez. Ultimately, it was meant to overdramatize the 'Moneyball' theory (that's what Hollywood does, it overdramatizes real life events to make them more entertaining). However, I do think that the movie did a very good job in explaining the basic idea behind Bill James' theory, and also how to utilize it from a scouting standpoint. In that regard, the film was very effective IMO.

Just watched moneyball last night and I hope to see the A’s win the fall classic one day. How can you not admire the hard work of that front office considering their resources. Tip of the hat from a Dodger fan.

respect to you sir. Thanks for this. It is very frustrating to be an A's fan, but whenever they win it next will make it all that sweeter with the lack of payroll they've had to work with.

There are things that Baseball, as a sport, can do, that no other sport will ever come close to doing. Moments like this walk-off homer, are one of those moments. Football, as exciting and competitive as it is, does not have moments that thrust pure joy into your heart and soul. Moments, well, if I am being honest, can make any person literally cry. We can always remember where we were when our team squeaked-out a win, or better yet, made that miracle moment happen! I can only speak for myself, but some of the best moments I've ever spent with my family, my son, were at the ballpark. Man, I love this game!

Still one of my favourite sports stories of all time. Up there with the 1980 US hockey team(I’m Canadian and even we love that story man), or even Canada winning that gold medal game on our ice versus are biggest rivals in 2010. Just so much redemption in this Oakland A’s story. Billy proving his worth at the helm of a major league ball club, Hattenberg coming thru in a season where he literally had learn how to play the game again. Justice giving us one last show of why he’ll go down as one of the greats. All around feel good story. What a thrill it was to follow this streak!

Beltran15x Let me rephrase my original post: Actually, that IS Tony Gwynn, it's clearly his voice, he has a very distinct voice, & yes he DID commentate some games, no less than four at the very least, this game plus 3 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_League_Division_Series_broadcasters#2000s) during the ALDS, I'm sure he did more as well.
