Great to know that LA was known for it' s agriculture. When I think of LA what comes to mind is movies and oranges and wine.

I was born in Mississippi but I grew up in California, one of the best things that ever happened to me, living in Tulare California in the 1980s I was surrounded by citrus and all types of Agriculture.

Sometime, someone figured out that moving more and more people to Los Angeles County and show them the glitz and glam of Hollywood, Disneyland, music and so on was more profitable than a field of potatoes and strawberries. 🤷♂️

Community gardens are beautiful initiatives to interact with and get people closer to agriculture. However, providing healthy and afordable food is a very serious issue that cannot be solved by building those gardens or giving industry leftovers for free. Healthy food should be afordable and accessible to everyone at their closest supermarket. I think suggesting that kind of solutions for such a serious problem is just inhuman

Takeaways: So much food but no resources to distribute. Organic only is organic when purchased from a farmers market. Everything else goes first to the to of the line stores like whole foods and bristol farms that get the top quality produce. Whatever is left over gets sold to wholesalers as like el super. consignment 🍎 🍏
