California atmospheric river | A look at rainy, snowy conditions at 8 a.m. February 4

Heavy Sierra snow, steady rain and gusty winds are expected Tuesday in Northern California as the result of an atmospheric river. The Tuesday morning commute will be wet and breezy across the region. Periods of rain will be moderate to heavy with some ponding on roads expected. Sierra snow is expected at elevations above 5,000 feet in the morning. That includes areas around Blue Canyon on Interstate 80 and around Strawberry in El Dorado County. Those levels will rise above 6,000 feet during the day.
