MONSTER TRAINS OF BNSF: 44,000 hp rumbling pulling the westbound 16k train!

On May 21 before 5 pm on the emporia sub. My most recent posted brought you the eastbound 16k train. Now so perhaps the final video(yeah right) to this series of the westbound 16k train only this time its running 5x3x2 which gives it a whopping 44,000 hp! ABALLAM3 Thanks! I was right lol. I knew you would count the cars. 4 shy of 270 for the eastbounder wasnt too bad but hey thats good with 2 intermodals with 270 and 266 respectively. Add the engines and that number climbs! thanks for watching!

My grandmother’s house was as close as the blue container..then her worst fear happened.. the train derailed. Knocking down her wooden fence and damaging her garden, which she loved so much..I think she loved that garden more than herself.When the foreman arrived, to see the damage, she was letting him have it. According to my father, his neighbor on the other side of the rails was telling everyone that the rails were crooked, but obviously no one cared for his opinion. People sometimes learn from their mistakes. This accident happened in 1973, back then you were blessed to have a working phone, especially if you were poor. I don’t think no one cared, because it was almost impossible to reach or talk with someone at the rail road commission.She got some compensation for the damage. Good thing it didn’t knock her house down with her in it. My father said that they had to lift the locomotive with two giant cranes, he also said that the locomotive wheels dug into the soft dirt.By the way, I loved the video.👍

For all you train experts out there here’s a question. Which coupled on the consist would be subject to the highest tensile force and which coupler will be subject to the greatest compressive force. Obviously the DPUs on the end are pushing so their couplers would be subject to compression on a flat or up incline.

We're talking about full power here, meaning everything thing is loaded starting from the diesel engines to the traction motors. Diesel engines are loaded from the generator behind it, the generators are loaded from the traction motors, the traction motors are loaded by the weights of all the cars these locomotives are pulling, you could hear these traction motors screaming because of the amperage s these inverters are dumping to these traction motors

Articulated wells still count as 1 car even though they have multiple platforms. Taking that into account the car count is actually lower than you'd think. I personally saw something like 83-85 cars. I'll watch again later to double check.

With 70 or so trains a day on this line, another BNSF main line a few blocks away with another 30 or so trains per day, and the county courthouse and down town Olathe in between it is no wonder citizens wanted a quiet zone!
