56 Miles (90 km) Above Earth - Successful Amateur Rocket Launch

Two-stage amateur rocket flight to 293,488 ft (55.6 mi/89.5 km). This rocket is called MESOS (short for mesosphere) because it is designed to fly there. The mesosphere is the third layer of Earth's atmosphere situated between 31 and 53 miles (50-85 km) above the surface. The amazing part about this rocket is it reached this altitude on less than 41,000 N-s of total impulse (full O-class high power rocket motor)! Capable of carrying the equivalent of a 16 oz can of beer/energy drink as a payload, this rocket flew two GoPro Hero 9s with modified rectilinear lenses. Both stages are recovered via parachutes and are reusable. This video covers the development and the launch of this record breaking rocket. I hope you enjoy it!

"Amateur" derives from latin for "lover" or "one who loves". This wouldn't be possible without love, and it is clear that they love every part of this journey to space.

I never in my wildest dreams thought an amateur could design, build, and deploy a rocket that could climb to fifty-six miles above the earth, travel at Mach 2.24 with first stage and attain Mach 4'.18 with the second stage, those figures are unbelievable, in fact out of this world. To think you recovered both stages intact is a massive bonus. Kudos to you dude and I hoe you are employed in the space program somewhere because space exploration needs geniuses much like yourself. "There" is an adverb indicating (often remote) location, but can arguably be a noun, an interjection or an adjective depending on use, and in some cases (such as "Hi, there")- a pronoun. "Their" as in your example, - is the Genitive Case of "They" a (possessive) pronoun. It used to be only Americans who made this error, but thanks to the Internet now anyone can get the idea that it's spelled this way.

@@waterislevel6589 why is the raw footage necessary? There are plenty of launches and weather balloon launches that show the raw footage from beginning to end. This is actually better evidence than most, as they use a lens that almost completely removes all distortion. Not a fisheye lens. There is some distortion at the very edges, which is to be expected depending on the camera. It turns out, it's difficult to make a camera survive Mach 4 and reentry and have perfect video with no distortion whatsoever. But this is pretty close. If you crop out maybe the outer tenth of the screen on all sides, there is no distortion. The curve is shown exactly as it exists. My question to you is, why do flat earthers hate it so much when people do their own research and experiments? This an incredible example of how no matter how much research you do, you're always wrong to a flat earther. If you don't go to great lengths for research, flat earthers say you don't know anything and to "do your own research". If you actually do your own research and go to the extremes in the pursuit of knowledge, you must be intentionally lying. Theres no winning

And in fact I proved that he is lying his ass off as the Go Pro 9 has a built in lens on the sensor it is a one piece design unlike the older ones which could have their entire lens swapped, now you know why Go pro decided to pull that out as many people were swapping out the moronic distortion lens crap. No camcorder has ever been released with a horizon distorting lens, and anyone who thinks a lens distorting the horizon is normal they need to seek psychological help. No camera should ever be sold to the consumer without a normal NON DISTORTING LENS on it, these jackasses at Go Pro even banned people on their forums for calling them out on why they don't just have a wide angle rectilinear lens stock on all Go Pro's since everyone hated editing the footage after to removed that distortion crap. Banning people for asking a basic fundamental feature of a camera leads to only one conclusion, they wanted to push the idea that it's normal to distort reality. He could of easily used any small camcorder and not have any distorted shots on his Rocket launch. I also prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the launch shots show a distorted horizon lens on the Go Pro's. So why would he only modify one and not the others? Next time use REAL CAMERAS and not that Go Pro garbage. It's 2023 and Go Pro still has not added normal wide angle lenses? Anyone that buys that is a fool. On several sections of his video you can clearly see plain as day that normal Go Pro's were used.

@@frogpocalypse The real question is why not use a camcorder which weigh less than most GO Pros and also no camcorder company would ever put out a camcorder that distorts your image. Use camcorders they don’t have any of these distortion lenses. No camcorder corporation would ever put out a camera that distorts your horizon. After I put the link to the GO Pro lens and sensor he completely got caught. At 1:52 you can clearly see that is not a proper lens swap!! The original lens was never removed, to remove the original lens you have break the seal around the lens and then slowly unscrew it very carefully with needle nose pliers, gently to break the thread lock paste. Now you install the lens replacement. This will break your Go Pro 9 and you can never take it underwater again unless you use an underwater case for it. At 1:52 this proves that they did not do a full lens swap as it would never look like that. Bottom line stop using GO Pros to capture rocket launches. Pay attention to what my comments are about : Cameras and why a small 4k camcorder was not used which do not require any lens mods.

Congrats man. Nothing like seeing a long term project come to fruition. So cool that you were able to put a rocket up and get that footage - yourself. So cool.

@@kg4lzc can you describe an Americanist? Because for many people in the world is a lazy fat guy that does not like black, gay and non-christians people. And most of the time, is quite ignorant too.
