So sad to see Monarch and Sovereign Of The Seas go away. They were absolutely beautiful ships. The Viking Crown Lounge design was the best looking of all the Royal Caribbean ships. It just looked so impressive sitting high on the top of the ship. RIP girls you will be surely missed by old school cruisers.

I practically grew up on Monarch. I was devastated when I found out she was scrapped. My single mother who was struggling financially and going to graduate school at the same time somehow managed to make life magical for a week once a year on Monarch. Her name was boaty to me. As a little girl I cried when we had to leave. My favorite spots on her were the hallway where you could see the Royal Caribbean anchor, and the very back railing where you could watch the propellers churn up the water. I will never forget the memories I made, and the growing up I did, on that ship. She’ll always be in my heart ❤️⚓️

There will never be another like the Sovereign class. I’ve always felt that they had an aura of beauty about them that other cruise ships today can’t hope to match.

Sailed on Monarch after a week on the then new mega ship Allure of the Seas, totally opposite ends of the cruise ship spectrum. The 4 days on Monarch were every bit as enjoyable as the mega ship just in a different way.

I hope that Royal Caribbean can sail the Majesty of the Seas just for a few more years and if she retired one day, then I hope that they don't scrap her. R.I.P to her sisters Sovereign and Monarch of the Seas:(

Killing these wonderful ships is a huge mistake the cruise lines will soon regret. There are millions of people like me who refuse to sail on the mega ships. Additionally, the mega ships can’t get into many of the amazing ports that the smaller classes of ships can. Also many regular cruisers will wait a long time until this outbreak is well under control until booking passage again. The net result will be that there will be fewer passengers sailing for the foreseeable future so it will be harder to fill the mega ships. Running a mega ship that’s undersold leads to additional losses which will compound problems for the industry. All these factors will come back to bite the cruise lines in the rear end. No problem though, China will happily build ships to meet the needs of the industry in the future and is well positioned to enjoy huge financial success as a result. Stupid decisions have consequences which we’ll all suffer from. Say adios to the cruise industry as we currently know it.

The Ocean Channel 2: she was a beauty! We were lucky to sail her three times. If RCCL hadn’t had such a large fleet with so many great ships to try, I’m sure we’d have sailed her more than we did. I’d rather sail her than any of the mega ships.
