Take it back to the days of the Titanic. The Titanic would fit inside the Icon of the Seas.

I took my first cruise on her in early 1997, Southern Caribbean just as shown in this video. It was a college graduation gift from my parents who went with me, though they'd been on several cruises already. This video stirred happy memories of that trip. I thought the ship was so beautiful and spacious. The first night as the ship sailed out of San Juan, I had my first pina colada from the Crown Lounge. The meals were all in the main dining room at the same table all week, so your waiter and assistant waiter came to know and serve you well. I had my first martini at the Captain's welcome, they were complimentary. The shows were awesome, on my cruise Bowser from Sha na na was the celebrity guest. It was a very impressive experience for me, and has made me a fan ever since.

Great memories! I commented else where but I had my first glimpse of the Monarch her 2nd month in service, in the port of San Juan December of ‘91. I was on the Star Princess but she caught my eye even then! I never sailed on her but was lucky enough to sail on her sister ship, Majesty of the Seas in June 1995. I’ve been on several cruises since but that Majesty cruise was still the pinnacle to me!! I was still a teenager but had an incredible time! Before everyone had a phone it seems we all were forced to interact and meet other people and we made the best of friends on that cruise and had such a good time with each other. I will say I wish social media existed then only for the fact I would have loved to have kept in touch with all of those fine people we met. 30 years later and I still think of some of those folks now and again!

And back then you never heard about fights happening aboard the ships it was a different type of cruising back then and some of the aspects of that type of cruise and I love to see come back

I saw her in the port of San Juan in December ‘91. I was on my first cruise on the Star Princess. She turned heads back then and I was lucky enough to sail on her sister, Majesty of the Seas, in 1995. I miss the old days of cruising!

Even though monarch of the seas is one of royal Caribbeans smallest ships, it was the biggest at its time.

What would be awesome is to take icon of the seas back to the late 80s and early 90s and pull up 21 of those sovereign class Royal Caribbean ships and see what they would think of the ship of the 21st century

Being as tall as the Statue of Liberty really seemed to be a point all these lines liked to mention about their ships around this time lol.

Traveled on all the Sovereign class ships and the Legend and Grandeur at their beginning and the quality of the product then was first class food service and entertainment was excellent.RCCI started to fall away with the arrival of the Radience Class and then the Voyager class is when Royal Caribbean went into the floating resorts and lost their individual cruising experience. The ships got bigger and bigger and changed their customer base .The ports now are overcrowded and these modern experiences are not relaxing.

When we sailed Monarch, we had an inside cabin on Tween Deck. That would be about where the ice rink would have been located (if they had thought of having one at that time)
