from a liverpool fan, keane is absolutely right. tottenham have average players besides kane and son. alli is not interested anymore in playing and has been average for 3 seasons. being an international doesn't make one a good player there are over 200 international teams and most of them don't have one player good enough to play in the premier league let alone a team with the support of spurs. most of the others only have one player good enough to play at this level. keane is also right on bale and on mourinhio not playing certain players because he is not satisfied with what he sees on the training pitch. redknapp first mentions the internationals and then goes on to criticize the keeper who plays in goal for the world champions. he is right that the keeper is not good enough, but that just proves keane's point on the definition of internationals not necessarily being good to be correct. for the record in england an international player is a player who has played at least once for his national team. this was an excuse or boast that was often used in the 1960's and the 1980's when teams were considered good because they had at least one player good enough to have played at least once for his country. this was when most first divsion players played either for the 4 home countries or for eire. today with so many international teams and so many foreigners this means nothing. most brasilian players who never played for brazil are better than most international players especially if they palyed for wales, eire, n. ireland and scotland or even smaller countries like my own. keane is also right in pointing out that spurs have not substituted ericksen or the alli of 3 seasona ago and i might add also verthongen.
