How does he manage to do it? Every song is so poetically pleasing and yet so relatable. Dear Keaton, you're one of the artists I can never grow bored of. ❤️

I’ve been listening to this absolute gem of a man since about 2013-14 and I never grow tired of his writing. Some of the roughest parts of my life were made better by him.
@Aei9344 жыл бұрын
I'll add to this. I found him around 2012. My emotional intelligence was quite low at the time. I had recently been dumped by a girl and I wasn't handling being rejected very well. I binged his music during that time. I still go into a time machine when I listen to Dear... I think of how miserable I was feeling and how silly it seems now.

As an artist myself (as well as someone who’s extremely aware of his emotions), Keaton’s a musician I’ve always felt very close to. This song honestly just proves it. Being a professional creative really does feel like this sometimes; like you’re working and trying to be happy and doing and making and creating and it’s impossible to balance it all. It drives so many artists into the ground, but the image of the relentlessly dedicated artist is the one that prevails. The ones that suffer anything and give up everything to perfect their craft are given stardom, despite their usually tragic ends. I think Keaton knows this, like I do, and that scares me to my core sometimes.

I deal with mental illness as well as chronic physical illness. I’ve dealt with so much pain, figuratively and literally, and yet, hearing the pain that Keaton expresses makes me feel less alone and also makes me fiercely want better for everyone suffering. He has this amazing ability to express such vulnerability in such deceptively simple ways but they hit you like a punch to the gut. It makes me want to wrap him, and everyone who relates to and understands the emotions he expresses, in blankets and give them a hot drink and just comfort them. Thank god for artists like Keaton, who turns his demons and damage into art that is cathartic and so needed for others with their own demons and damage. It’s not only brilliant and deeply personal art, it’s a conduit for understanding, empathy, pain, self reflection, and so much more. I’m a little overwhelmed so my thoughts are scattered but I hope this made some kind of sense. It’s painful to experience someone else’s pain but it’s also incredibly important. On the more technical side of things, this man is a wonderfully poetic lyricist, a unique and achingly beautiful performer. I hope he knows this. ❤️
