Buddy I loved your video as its competely full of all the necessary tips and information. The way you explained each and every asset to carry, purchase or to rent was so good. I did this trek on this new year 31-12-21, and this was my first snow trek and I completed this in 3 days which was planned for 5 days by the trip organizer. While descent, got muscle tear around knee as there were snow slides made by guides and I tried to slow down while sliding and got hurt, so a thing that people should avoid. Another mistake which I made was the same that you mentioned in the last of your video that not to carry a heavy backpack. Would like to add up few things from my experience: 1. If possible, reach Sankri by Taxi or own car instead of Bus or travellers as they dont have push back seats so it will be uncomfortable as Uttarakhand Roads are not that broad like in Himachal and state buses are not a good option to travel such long-distance if you are going to hike next day. 2. Have atleast 2 water bottles as the water is costly (Min - Rs 50 / Max Rs 150) and that too depends on the availability due to less resources available over there. There may be chances that you are ready to pay even Rs 200 for water but you wont get it. (happened with me) 3. Your foot nails should be properly cut and trimmed else while descent they will hurt badly 4. We should carry a day bag along with backpack, so that we can carry our day bag to summit with less items 5. Better to purchase mechanical sticks instead of wooden sticks as they have shock absorbers and are easy to handle.

Bhai, Rucksack agar hai kisi ke pass toh udhar maang lo , ya fhir naya lena hai toh le sakte ho. Basically depend karta hai ki aap kitna saman leke ja rahe hai. If u think ki normal bagpack mein aapka saman ho jayega then its ok. Trekking stick agar kharidna hai toh le sakte ho ,if u think ki in future u will do more treks. Regarding headlight...yes get one from decathlon because summit day pe 100% lagega. Any more info needed plz let me know. Thanks

Brother lots of things will be their, most important you need to know if they will allow you to do campaign alone as u may need permission for that. So thoda research karlo agar campaign allow hai then 100% aap akele trek sakte ho ...but I think they will not allow as it comes under some forest department as far as I have heard. I remember our trek leader told that we need to get a pass before we start our trek .... isiliye

I borrowed it from my friend. You can do the same ,else you can definately carry your own bagpack which can hold the amount of clothes / Items you need for the trek. Its not mandatory that you need to have a trek bag.

How to charge phone nd batteries?

Ha ha ,this is a real challenge actually. So let me tell you what I did. I had 2 batteries for DSLR and 5 for GoPro. I took 2 Power bank with me. So I charged all my gears at Sankri in the night itself. Phone , power bank , GoPro battery and DSLR battery. Now I planned myself that I can use a maximum of 1.5 GoPro battery in 1 day so 5 battery will almost go for 3 days or a bit more , that means by the time batteries are dead I will b in the summit camp hence I charged all my GoPro batteries again using powebank at the base camp. Then 3 batteries were more than enough for me to shoot the summit and back. Regarding phone as I had 1+7 the battery standby was really assume and without any network the battery went too long than usual. So , you need to actually plan how to consume your batteries there. Now a days you get solar power bank also which is a good option I think.

Prashant, after leaving from Sankri you won't have any option to charge anything. What I did was I carried 1 extra battery for DSLR and because there won't be any network so the mobile battery also lasts more than normal. I also carried three power bank, actually borrowed two from my friend. Regarding my GoPro I had 5 extra batteries. I would suggest you to plan, how to utilise the battery in more efficient way. Please make sure you charge all your gadgets before the day leaving from Sankri for Juda ka talab just to be on the safer side. Frankly speaking it will b a nice experience and you will experience how to spend life with limited resources. Don't forget to carry disposable plates , else after eating you have to wash which will be really difficult due to cold water. Any more questions ask me I will definitely help you.

Shrutika, I did purchased one poncho but it never snow. It's always advisable to keep one poncho in case if it starts snowing. You will get it easily in Sankri if you don't get elsewhere. Well the place I stayed was good. But I will say that you will get a mixed experience altogether. The stays won't be that comfortable but yes you will have an idea how to stay with little amount of facilities.

Trekking stick is not the professional one, it's just a normal wooden one which is sold for Rs 50 and torch is also sold there for around Rs 50 -100 . U don't really need to rent that u can get a normal torch and put it into your warm hat which u will wear. Don't purchase the expensive one which is sold in decathlon which has a head strap. Please note you will only need the torch the final day - SUMMIT DAY .

It's always advised to wear it during you sleep as the temperature goes real down. During trekking it's not advised because u will sweat a lot and will feel uncomfortable.

I didn't buy poles because was not sure lagega ki nehi...so purchased one wooden stick from there at 50 RS only 😀 which was more than enough for me. Head torch is only needed during the summit day so I got it from Sankri a normal torch small one and kept it under my hat . But if u think u can definitely get pole and head torch but that will b added on expenses. In case if u are planning for more treks in future then u can invest in that 😀

@@LadyDownSouthTN ha ha I liked this question. Actually it would be a bit difficult but when u start seeing the view u will go mad and you will have powerful energy to run . Trust my words u are going to experience something which u cannot think of. Most most most important thing remember to keep ur bag light. Don't take unwanted things. Keep disposable plates to eat. If u cannot carry ur baggage with you no worries hand them over to mules to carry they will charge only 300 RS per segment. Any thing more let me know will help u

Yes ofcourse you can, Suggestion please don't carry things which you don't need. And don't forget to carry disposable plates and spoon which will be really helpful due to extreme cold.

Without booking any trip form any travel agency, can i trek by my self. What type of difficulties could i face in this case?

Dheeraj Singh, This is really a nice question I never thought of this. Well if we book from a travel agency they will charge around 7999 from Dehradun to Dehradun , this is including tent stay, food , crampons, gaiters & guides. Difficulties : Is the stay and food , if you can manage to carry tents and food along with you then no issues. Regarding route it's very simple only one route to follow that means you can trek by yourself aram se. I see a lot of positivity if u do it all alone without any agency because then u have the peace of mind to explore and stay in a particular location as u wish, feel the nature more. But now I am also thinking there is something called Trek Permit which you need to enquire beforehand , because buring fire is not allowed except to the people authorised there with pre-assigned Camps. What so ever I loved your idea please let me know if u proceed with any plan like this then I would like to join u as well if u don't have any issues. Any more information needed let me know we can share contact and plan better.

Well Aditya there are certain things which you need to keep in mind if u are planning to book directly after going there. 1. Transport till Sankri and back. 2. Accomodations in Sankri if you don't get spot bookings. Now I don't think there is any benefit in not booking the trek earlier. Once you book the trek you have the peace of mind in terms of entire trek + meals + Accomodations+ your transportation from dehradun and back. As per my idea and experience I will tell you that this is a peak season for Kedarkantha trek and trust me the amount of people and crowd there will make things more than difficult if you don't book the trek in advance. In case if you sort out everything and book directly from Sankri you will save an amount of maximum RS 1000 and hardly Rs 1500. Let me know if you need any more information. ⛄🏔️🥶

@@themarinebiker Carry dustbin up and down a snow trek is not as easy as we do it in cities. Dustbins or not, I truly do not support disposable items on treks including packaged food items like biscuits, chocolate etc. If you are bringing any packaged food items up hill, it is your responsibility to get it down also. Check IndiaHikes green trail initiative, you will understand what I am saying. I have been to kedarkantha and Shankri route is now like a big garbage in peak season. IndiaHikes will choose different route and will provide a bag in which you will have to collect all garbage that oth9have littered around in track just to clean our nature clean. Cities have dustbins too then why most our Indian cities filled with garbage? Cause we don't understand the value of nature

Yes brother I agree to your thoughts. If u have noticed I have said to use disposable during the eating time so that you don't have to wash utensils, never said to carry up or down during trek.
