Soft Close Doors Retrofit BMW e60 part 1

Episode 1 of 2 S323A Soft-Close-Automatic doors
In this episode I will retrofit Soft Close Automatic doors on this wonderful BMW e60 , for this operation I need all the locks with actuator for soft close, the wiring for each door and especially the wiring from inside the car, everything goes perfectly especially if you do it with pleasure . Of course it will take some time and especially a process like this, but the end result is amazing!

I've been doing this for over 15 years, that's why some things may seem simple in this videos. I have a vast experience working with BMW MINI and Rolls Royce , abbreviated BMW Group , and that's why you may see things that seem impossible or very difficult to do, done easily !

Ahh this brings me back. I did this retrofit to my E60 a few years ago, took me 4 days to finish it because the urge to clean every nook and cranny keep kicking in. I also didn't want to source a wiring harness because like you said it only needed 2 wires for power and ground. So I bought the plugs and pins and ran the wires to the fusebox myself. My early build (Nov04) pre-lci doors also didn't have the holes for the actuator bracket, so had to guess and drill them. All in all, not something I would do again because it was a major pain in the behind for not much reward. 99% of the time your passengers will slam your doors anyways, even after telling them.

Great job and great video. more of this please! Just a remark on our remark about the smell of sh*t. It doesn't actually come from the dust. It's mostly caused by bacteria and spores accumulated on the AC evaporator. The smell starts again if outside temperature is high enough and you're using the A/C. The condensing water on the evaporator makes perfect culture for bacteria to grow. This comes from an incorrect use of the A/C, by not switching it off early enough before the end of the drive. ~5min before the end of your drive, switch off the A/C but keep the fan running. This way the the evaporator will dry and no bacteria can accumulate. If it already smells bad, only way to get rid of it is a thorough disinfection of the evaporator.

Great job! I did this retrofit to my F10, procedure is almost exact same. F10 front door are bit trickier, because there are crash pads, that need to be replaced with suitable for soft close lock actuator. And I did built my own wiring harness, it much cheaper to do so.

NIce, Clean Job. I also add some protection wax inside the door, without foam barier, it's ease to clean down od the door, then add protection wax, to prevent rust in future.... - BTW. excellent and clean job with explanation. Cheers from Poland ;) Keep working.... !!! ;)
