Santiago de Cali, is the capital of the Valle del Cauca department, and the most populous city in southwest Colombia, with an estimated 2,319,655 residents] making Cali the third-largest city proper and metropolitan area in population and the second-largest city by area in the country.
As the only major Colombian city with access to the Pacific Coast, Cali is the main urban and economic centre in southwest Colombia, and has one of the fastest-growing economies in the country.The city was founded on 25 July 1536 by the Spanish conquistador Sebastián de Belalcázar.

Really tiny section of the city, coming down from Belalcazar through my old San Antonio neighborhood to Calle 5, north to Avenida Colombia east, south on 12th and a quick cut across Plaza de Caicedo to the 14th St commercial district and back north toward the river, busy downtown area. Not bad, reminds me of my youth. But there are many, far prettier sections of the city: Miraflores, San Fernando, 6th Ave, Las Americas.
