Great demo, and I didn’t mind the talking one bit! The way Keeley has designed the interface is really smart. So many presets available with simple tapping. Yeah, 3 thumbs up for sure.

I sold both my D1 and R1 walrus mako effects after I saw this, as much as those are praised I felt they are very difficult to use in practical ways and the sound quality and output is not as grandiose as their PR and everybody else claims, this just seems straightforward and produces beautiful sounds without much tinkering with the controls

I bought it this week. All I can say is for as much as I hate the "no brainer" heralding I often read for any exalted kit, this is it! I have this and a Wampler Tape Echo (also bloody fantastic) and this is a fantastic augmentation. I can't imagine anyone who wants "echo" (def not a sterile DDL) not loving it as well. Spendy, but no regrets.
@TechnicallyNotSteve2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I have a Dd500 for every possible delay sound I need.... but this is the sauce, this does echo better than most and the form factor is perfect. This is much more than just a signature pedal too.

I gigged for years with a Korg DL8000R in my rack. It was great for all my guitar sounds, and especially my 12 string acoustic, using the 2-tap chorus preset. I sold this Korg unit just because I was tired of dragging an effects rack around and the extra time and space required,, Regretably I could never find anything in a pedal that would get me even close. Now that I have heard this I wonder if Andy may have had one of the Korg units in his studio. This pedal is next on my bucket list - thanks for the excellent review as always. Nick - Geelong

Hi Brett. I've watched quite a few videos about the Halo - (which I bought and love) - including both of your videos, and I can safely say that your videos are by far the most useful and informative. The ones on the Keeley site are barely audible, and they should replace them with both of yours! Great and very thorough and useful review. Greetings to you from Ireland.

I now have my own Halo and this is my absolute favourite. With all the gear one can own if you don't have a Halo. .you're seriously missing out. An overdrive, the Halo I'm done. Try stacking the Re2 alongside...No compare padre.

Dear Brett.....on the left side of the HALO, there are 4 I/Os.... from the bottom to the top, the 1st two are the pedal's left & right outputs followed by Expression input. My question is, what is that 4th i/o which is marked with Tip & Ring, for?
@RobertKeeleyTV2 жыл бұрын
The one marked Tip and Ring is a TRS connection so that you can have remote access of the two footswitches. For example, you can connect to a G3 or other switching system.
@hihopeseveryday2 жыл бұрын
In other words you can plug in a latching switcher and use it to switch presets.

Great review but tbh I just cannot get the pedal to do what I want. Maybe it’s just me (the manual is terrible) but there’s v little difference switching between presets for me, the controls don’t usually work and/or I can’t seem to access them regardless if pressing the FDBK knob etc. Maybe mine is just a dud :(

Is the trails setting buffer good,and is it analog dry through?
@italoop78502 жыл бұрын
I have watched several videos about this new delay pedal and I'm trying to understand how this would be an improvement over the TimeLine Andy was using. Unfortunately the user manual is not available yet, hoping that it carries some useful info on the algorithms. Basically it looks like a dual cascading delay with a stereo diffusor, a multitap delay and a BBD echo simulation, 3 algorithms really. On the TimeLine you can set the two echoes in series or parallel, you have diffusion in the Lexicon style, so not a halo verb, and a lot more choices for each of the 3 algorithms available on the HALO. Add decent presets storage, MIDI... great for backup, a display, knobs that facilitate tweaking and changes "on the fly" with a single hand IF necessary and a lot more delays algorithms available. The "halo" thing is definitely the only difference I can see at the moment but when you have cascading delays they tend to create a reverberant space anyway or if you have a second delay pedal (or reverb) a cluster of echoes will do that pretty nicely. I tried with a Volante after the TimeLine... basically I can't find anything I can't do with those other pedals. Maybe a tweakable reverb would have been nice but those hard limitations imposed by a very raw UI don't easily allow for that. So, as far as I understand it at the moment, it's just a VERY personal interpretation of what Tim likes and that's it. Anything else?

The manual provides a lot of answers
@italoop78502 жыл бұрын
@@skipneumann1 Thanks! I just checked it as they must have posted the manual after my first post. Unfortunately it doesn't provide any answer at all. My point was about the algorithms, their design... not how the knobs and switches work. Still I don't see the advancement on the TimeLine.
@italoop78502 жыл бұрын
@@Javier-qk7ms It doesn't answer my question. You can do a lot more ond good on the TLine. And probably cheaper.
@italoop78502 жыл бұрын
@@BobGuido You're right, Bob! NOTHING in pedal format has ever come out bringing any news to what the H8000 does and can do. I have created a lot more algorithms on it... Soundwise there is no comparison. These thing sound so damned cold and digital, without analog I/O sections that shape their tone. The H8K is still the best! Cheers!
@hihopeseveryday2 жыл бұрын
Look I likely have more studio rack effects than any standard musician all but for one problem you have. If there's nothing new for you stick with what you have! I've just used my Halo post the amps on a piece and I'm quietly controlling myself! I think you're missing the point of the pedal. It's not the abilities of a pedal so much as whether or not you can become a creative wizard in using and altering. This is where it all begins.
@scottyb3b72 жыл бұрын
well done!
@nacuda92 жыл бұрын
Did you run pedal in front of the amp? I just watched Tone Talk with Andy on, and I believe he said his is in front.
@BrettKingman2 жыл бұрын
No, I set up a virtual effects loop in the Axe so it was post preamp. I'll ask Andy how he actually runs it but this (my video) is how I would.
@nacuda92 жыл бұрын
@@BrettKingman Tone Talk confirmed Andy runs it in front. It's interesting how all the reviews I've seen do otherwise. Which most of us think would be logical in the loop. But I think he talked about designing to run in the front. I may have to re-watch

honestly, i think it’s getting harder to get excited about any delay pedal these days. with few exception I think it would be hard to tell them apart in a blind test. same uninspiring features and controls…all copies of the ones that were already perfected in the seventies. for me It’s sadly becoming the wah of the aughts.
