Most comfortable hiking boots I own, that being said the outsole will definitely peel away on you. That being said they’ve held up extremely well in wet conditions other than the outsole issue.

I have had every hiker made over the years and the Keen 3 is the best of the lot.

They do run large, about a half size, they do have a wide toe box, but it your feet are wide in the middle (like mine are) you'll want the wide sizing.

I am happy to report that the company is a great company. I had a pair that delaminated and they were very nice to give me a credit for the new product i v . The boots were very comfortable until they had the issue and I was able to replace them with the new ones. That is why I am going to be buying more pairs in the future.

Long-lasting is not the TG3's strong suit. My outsole started peeling away from the midsole, the webbing frayed and most disappointing, was the mudguard strip on the upper cracked where it flexes. I used to like Keen boots, but lately their engineering/materials choices have led me to other brands.

What brands are more durable than Keen but also have a large toe box like Keen?
@Peter-qo7uz Жыл бұрын
Mine was starting to fall apart after 15 months of occasional use. The rubber side part, where it flexes gave up. I hope the replacement shoes from store will not be as bad. Time will tell, but my belief in Keen brand is not as high as was before.

@@Hnw761 you just gotta try out different brands. Oboz and Salomon work for me, as do the various Nike ACG boots.

Same problems with Salomon boots, fantastic design, but s**ty materials. My Salomon Quest GTX started coming apart at just 8 months, with a $250 dollar price tag

I have had them for almost 3 months now, and I don't know how to get rid of them. Sole is too thin and too flexible. Not very stable for my ankles and I can feel all the stones and woods when I go off trail. Don't have much of a heel. I have some back issues and they just kill me. On top of this the right one is ot very frendly with my ankle. Each time a tide it up more vigorous it's touch some sweet spot on my ankle and after few hours my feet start to hurt or just gets numb. I'm asking 30Euro and nobody wants them. :(

I just bought these boots and the main issue they have for me is that the upper ridge of the boot is too rigid (where they should be soft) and because of that they hurt my ankles and i had line wounds at the back and sides of my ankles

Nice review. Thanks. What would recommend is a better alternative to this? I have wide feet and get warm feet. Don’t really want to spend much more on a boot. 👍

my biggest issue is walking through wet tall grass and having a soaked foot even though the boot is supposed to be "waterproof"

To everyone that has bought these. How are they after 3 to 6 to 13 months after usage? I'm reading alot on the outsole failing after few months of usage.

Outsoles, rivets and stitching are 3 main areas of failure on most all Keens from about 2018 and newer. Something changed in their manufacturing/materials/quality control.

Very comfortable, but the heel is slipping, i have very narrow heel. A little sad because the sizing for my foot size was perfect. Should i go for merrel moab 3 instead, for padded heel (assuming more tight heel)

My wife bought me these for Father’s Day. I wanted to like them, as I was grateful for the gift. Even in a 10 wide,they just seemed too narrow and restrictive. I’ve hiked the JMT multiple times with Merrell Moab mids and regular hikers. I took the Keens back to REI and exchanged them for the Merrell Mids. Normally I would hike on the JMT with a tail runner and not a mid boot. I’ve never understood using “waterproof” boots when backpacking. They are hot and do not breathe, and if you encounter any reasonable amount of moisture, your foot is going to get wet regardless.
@bisakov Жыл бұрын
The fit and comfort are very subjective. I find the Moab 3 being a little more comfortable, but less supportive. As of the WP: it makes a lot of difference when you hike in the backcountry and you have wet grass and vegetation. But yes, not for rivers and creeks crossings :)

Thanks for the Intel. Just bought a pair last night for $60.00. Was hoping they'd be sturdy enough for working on an extremely rocky,muddy,debris covered extreme sloped area. I will be wearing a 5 point climbing harness, using climbing gear and ropes. My filas did a great job staying on my feet when I free fell 20' landing face down and really impressed me when the landslide started shortly after touching down. They were right where they should be when the ride ended approx 70' down the cliff.(face down). Snapping off 3" trees like straws as delicately gliding over rocks,trees,limbs,mud,small woodland animals, building materials, the brand new aluminum telescoping folding ladder and more rocks as a 300 lb man can. The most impressive thing regarding the filas is the fact that they stay on when I slammed the side of my head neck collar bone and shoulder into a bigger tree which stopped me immediately. The climb back to the top was a hoot. The left hand was inoperable but the arm worked. The right hand was fine but the arm was a bit wonky. I'm sure the filas would have helped to make the climb upward had the legs been working. Unfortunately the legs were on the fritz. But the filas dragged quite well protecting the tops of my feet. I'm hoping these keens will do at least as good as the filas. Maybe I'll make it far enough to get the ropes attached this time before the land decides I weigh too much. Good video. Enjoyed it

From Australia: I'm so disappointing with KEEN leather shoes and also similar mid hiking boots. The sole do not last (12 months) even if not used on stony/rocky/hill country and I'm very close to 71 years. Shoe testers/reviewers need to come up with a sole test chart.
