Awesome review, man! I got these boots 2.5 years ago at Fort Thompson when I worked there and have nothing but good things to say about them. I too hunt/scout/fish/hike quite a bit and have never had an issue. Water proofing is still good along with the tread and support. Just did an 8 mile hike with a pack through rough terrain 3 days ago and the boots held strong the whole time. There’s no telling how many miles are on them now. Keep it up, man!

I have a pair from 3 year ago still kicking ass. Not as warm as they claim but a fantastic boot. Sounds like they're selling with their good name now Instead of the quality that gave them the good name. So sad.

Can you test the Keen Brixen Lo waterproof or the Keen Targhee 3 slip-ons?

Imo, most of the boots will last for cca 500miles, so for someone its 1 season, for others may be 5 years. If the soles is coming apart it would be least of my worries as its $20 to 40 dollar fix at shoe repair to reglue them. You can spend $300 for a pair and they will still need to be resoled after one or two season depending on sole compound. So you better still look for a boot that is comfy, waterproof and not coming apart on side where its bend and stitching is solid. My friend has salomon for 5 years now without issue, mine are gone after a season(sole unglued) i pay 20 to reglue and its good for another season then to bin. If you look for a boot that will last longer, you need B1/2 or A6 with vibram sole that can be changed when worn down. Something like Salewa MTN TRAINER MID GTX(sturdy boot for 3 season hiking). Or try Merrel Moab 3 GTX or Asolo Nucleon Mid GV MM that is similar to this keen targhee 3.

There's lots of reports of them falling apart in one year. I just got a pair at Ross for 60 bucks and I wondered why. The warranty is good for a year. Shoe goo works to fix them.

I've tried this boots. They are incredibly comfort. But.... the sole just peeled off in 3 months of active hiking season. Piece of garbage for $100+

The new targhee four is injection molded and has a lifetime sole guarantee

As mentioned by another- their adhesive between the outer and midsole sucks. They’re no long lasting and highly over rated IMO. I have had multiple pairs due to a work discount … and have moved to another brand. They’re also quiet heavy compared to others
