Even attending seminars after a while gets boring, I’ve been to seminars taught by some of the best guys and never learnt anything too crazy or that which blew my mind. Most bjj is out there and easily accessible to everyone. I much rather would pay a high level guy and roll with him and his students for an hour then do the traditional 3 techniques and pictures then go home

My old coach took me to one of the mma millionare events in orlando. It was very much like keenan described. We sat in this convention hall in a big hotel and he would have testimonial after testimonial with people in his network, avallon brothers, Nak from beta ect. tell about how much money they were making with this method. At the end of the pitches he would have ring girls come around and pass out sheets to fill out you cc info to buy the products. Also used the normally sells for 1200$ if you buy it right now you can get it for 997$. Cant tell you how many dvd's my instructor bought but it was alot. Everything from kids programs, afterschool programs, how to be a gym manager, how to structure contracts.

Kennan's Elo Rating Idea for BJJ sound genuinely fucking amazing. It would let guys like Gordon who are viewed as ahead of the heap to still have competition with past legends like Roger Gracie trying to beat their Elo. like Magnus Carlsen, he became the greatest chest player in the modern era but had a long time of chasing down Kasparov's Elo and then trying to break the record and breach a 2900 Elo. This is something all the promoters need to come together for now!

I actually felt excited when Keenan was talking about the ELO ranking for grapplers and just let the street cred work loosely into the fighters putting their own money up for their matches. I think too that there should be two separate rankings for grapplers - one for skill and proficiency and consistency and one for straight entertainer and showman.

I guess the problem is ELO applying to different rule sets such as spamming IBJJF No GI comps vs spamming ADCC opens, Both are No GI but they are pretty different in both rules and who competes

@@Lockdown335 You and I both know judges and point based systems are for white through blue belts, and doesn't apply well to high level grappling. The ranking system would have to fundamentalize what a ELO-ranked BJJ match is in terms of time limit and what a draw means for ranking, since there will inevitably be matches where nobody gets a submission. I personally don't feel like OT-style matches make much sense, they incentivize tiring your opponent out in hopes of having a chance to win in OT where the stakes are higher.
