I lived there then. This is what we listened to. GOD! This is a such a time trip. I've lived in the East Coast for years. They don't know how radical the culture was in the "fly over"states. And they don't have a clue now.

I remember listening to WKNR.. I actually got a request played on the air there live.. Ivalso remember Scot Regan being very associated with something called ALSAP.. they would have people going door to door collecting money, something like March of Dimes.. then they would have a big local concert where the people that went door to door could attend free.. that Scott hosted.. the concert starred local bands (of which there were many) like Bob Seger and Ted Nugent during that time.. it was a great time to live in Detroit.. I eventually switched to CKLW tho because they played less commercials

Absolutely can't forget "The Big 8 CKLW" AM dial rocking with WKNR Keener 1300 AM 😎 Do you remember🐺 Wolfman Jack? On Friday & Saturday nights, I would sit in my dad's car, tuning the AM dial listen for Wolfman Jack live on the radio📻 Here's how we could hear him all over USA 🇺🇸 His nationwide notoriety began at XERF-AM in Mexico where the radio stations were not governed as strictly as they were in the United States. That station had a signal that was so strong it could be heard across most of the US. It was said that a car driving from New York to California would never lose the broadcast.

Scotty was fired from WKNR one day because he did not have the 'CKLW-sound' whom they competed against and hired the very next day at the Big-8 CKLW.

Not bad but why couldn't you include the full songs like the CKLW airchecks?

I didn't edit it. It was originally that way. But even if it was unscoped, KZbin ends up blocking the music anyway.
