I have a 2022 Hilux 1GD here in the Philippines. They come from the dealer with no DPF, but that’s because Philippines is still on Euro 4 emissions standards.

Wait for more complexity in the Prado 250 with the adblue system and the mild hybrid tech. For now I'll be keeping my 150kw 1GD Fortuner with no DPF from factory, hope they keep selling them in here that way for longer time, but it's getting harder not getting to there

I have just acquired a 150 (sold my 1999 HZJ105 for it 🤦‍♂). How do you delete the dpf?

@@Chris-hx3om First of all it’s technically illegal, but should you use your vehicle for off road use only: Knock the ceramic core out of the DPF, reinstall, get the DPF regeneration system turned off in the ECU. This is an program uploaded “reflash”, the program can be sourced via a mechanic who obtains it from an automotive engineer. I’d only do it once it fails, or if you have issues, which I know there were plenty thanks to T not designing the system right in the first place, hence the DPF class action which T lost.

In partsouq EGR cooler for 1KD (part number 25601-0L021) is for US$209,67 and the one for 1GD (part number 25681-0E010) US$508,18. May have to add taxes and sending costs.

Indeed the 2GD exists, so like the 2KD. The main difference is the displacement, the first one 2.4L timing chain driven and the second one 2.5L timing belt, look at them as the smaller versions of the 1GD and 1KD. May not be popular or not even exist in Australia, but they are very popular in Latin America specially in the cheaper versions of work vehicles.

Theory would say coolant cannot enter. The engine theory would also say if your EGR is not flowing then the gases do not need to be cooled down. You could bypass the cooler so there’s no coolant in there which means no water can get in the engine either way, so sure answer yes
