its an absolute classic which deserves its high price. its basically just another channel of your amp. without walking over to twiddle the volume knob to make your tubes cook more. the ultimate boost pedal. and you'd be mad to sell a V2 in 2024 ;)

It's a keeper. I have a vox ac30 and the low gain settings on all the amps were bang on for me.

Yup... Was gonna say, until you finished with... Great for stacking given it's relatively neutral & uncompressed sound at low gain levels. You nailed this review. The buzz was all about the low gain/boost sound...it's an excellent pedal for slightly pushing the amp & a keeper. I think these days it's up to version 4 or more (I've not kept up)? It's just not seen as boutique/trendy these days, so doesn't seem to be talked about and then of course there's long been the cheaper knock offs. However, it was (maybe still is), popular on many a board for a good reason! Cheers Jason. 🎸🎸🎸

Just my opinion, but I thought the low gain setting sounded great.

I really liked it too but higher gain didn’t sound good at all. I bet it would be a great always on for an edge of breakup clean. Then add a ts or whatever before the Timmy.

It had the feel of a great prechorus or the kind of part that brings energy back after a lower bridge or breakdown. I'd probably keep the same shapes but let them sustain for a verse feel. Anyway very nice stuff

Timmy is not for fender amps, only british style amps like vox and marshall

If you haven't used it for like six or so months just sell. But give it a week or so to contemplate. Still own gear I was to sell but after second thoughts kept. Always figure what a sell will bring, money or other gear, is it a "swap" of gear or an upgrade possible? Mind: the grass is always greener at the other side of the fence 😂 For me less (quality) gear works better to get the most out it. Too many pedals, menu's buttons and switches just stop me from having fun. Avoid hyped gear, wait six or so months till the hype is over and check used prices if still on the fence...

It didn’t sound good at all to me at a higher gain setting too. Low gain awesomeness though.

I agree, it actually needs tone shaping with more gain.

It sounds good, *but there's also nothing unique or innovative in the design by a longshot having just looked over the schematic.* It's literally just another simple and common overdrive, *The price alone just makes it retarded.* For what it is and in that, being such a basic design, *I always expect much more from these popular builds that found their way to the market as a boutique build.* Nothing really sets it apart whatsoever including the picking dynamics; you get that in countless pedals. Just another soft clipper, and when you push the idea that lower gain retains something subtle, *that's all soft clippers.* When you crank many of them, they still hard clip. If you can't go from sparkling clean to insane raunch with your guitar's volume all that achieves it, *It aint worth 20 bucks!*

you obviously can’t: a. afford one b. have never played one. “it sounds good, but there's also nothing unique or innovative in the design by a longshot having just looked over the schematic". 2024 perspective. the pedal was designed in 2004 & the circuit has been copied ad nauseam. show me a single schematic of any other pedal pre-2004 that sounds the same and keeps the signal intact like the Timmy does. the BD-2 was THE pedal for touch responsiveness and working the guitar volume control, prior to that. 1996-2004. the Timmy came along and changed everything. It was the first overdrive / boost pedal that you could stomp on and with the controls set to “off, off, 2 o’clock, off”… there was ZERO difference in tone. It preserved EVERYTHING. total game changer and the reason these V1’s & V2’s are so valuable. you’re also judging a pedal by how it sounds on youtube, not in the room. noobie noob noob
