Pom, I reckon you're spot on. The $ per game Martin, Cuningham, and Marchbank have cost has been way too high for the output we've got from them. Its a shame as they are all very talented. Mircov, I reckon, is a no-brainer re-sign. Has been coming along well, after missing most of last year. We still don't know what TDK will do beyond 2025. Owies is also a no-brainer re-sign. He has had his best year kicking goals, but also really improved his ability to make goals for others. And seldom injured. I wasn't a fan prior to 2024 but he's easily been our best small forward. Carroll is an interesting one. There was a certain amount of steel from him on how we went about it on Sunday and I loved his response when he kicked the goal. He's one of those "too good for VFL, not quite good enough for AFL" types. He is hurt by the fact he is so left-side dominant.

Good review, Pommy. Agree, they all seem to make sense. Yes, a real shame about those 3... heaps of talent, but their bodies have really let them down, unfortunately. Regarding the youngsters, I really hope Lemmey will be another one of those 'unearthed' youngsters when given a chance. Plus, we must get McMahon onto the Senior list!

Well said Pom, completely agree on your analysis. Harsh call but Motlop and Corey Durdin need to lift their games. Would rather we get in a premier goal kicker with the space from those two. @johnjagin8330 Cunningham has shown that he will blitz at this level , it's just , it seems if your fated to come to Carlton , a Kemp will get thru , a Cunningham, CURSED with Soft tissue injury will not , I can imagine the nights when the truth of thing hit home , he just can't get over his battle with injury , Shame , he signed a one year extension start season , to see if he could work his way through his injury woes , and that has failed , Dang , I so like this kid , maybe he can play Magoos , but that where it starts , and Lord , Binns ,and Moir , have shown enough to say get our list right and where on the right track , but it's clouded , jaded by unsureity, hope we get a good team on the ground , we will beat them , GO BLUES kick arse RA

If we bring in Haynes he'd be the oldest player on our list. He isn't a tall defender and maybe not a replacement for Durdin who has the extra height. Maybe if we're looking to play Kemp forward now? Any idea if we are we into Tomlinson as well? Martin, Cunners and Marchy - too many injuries not enough game time. Marchbank's record of neck and head injuries must be a concern as well. Can't see Freo willing to give up much, if anything, for Martin. Owies - difficult. We are too heavy on small forwards on the list (Owies, Motlop, Fantasia, Fogarty, C.Durdin). If we're confident Motlop will be better next year this might be the time to wish Owies well at another club. Jack Carroll - happy for him to go to West Coast if he wants to head home and get more game time. Cooper Lord may have already gone passed him in the midfield pecking order. Mirkov - keep. Worth hanging on to as a back up ruck and see if he is ready to step up next year. Matt Carroll - keep, everyone deserves more than a year to prove their worth. Akuei - isn't really showing enough in the VFL.

Think haynes suits Voss he lives that 193 to 195 key as the games getting smaller, really think it's a culture signing that allows us to take a pick 60 key defender and he learn something. Vfl lacked any form of backline leadership. But agree don't see tomlinsom as a goer his injury list and there was talked he wanted to hang it up last year. Rather bring in a standard setter with the vfl lads

We need to make room for five selections in the main draft. Also, we need to try and slide our second selection down 5 spots to grab O'farell/whitlock before bids are made for the campo boys . I would also see who would be open to trading for our future 2-round pick on draft night. Also, do we need to keep a main list spots open for both ben and lucas ?If our list is full, can we match?

We are in a strong spot as a lot of our delistings are sen list. I love whitlock either of them. Ofarrell I'm not sold on think he is the type we see a lot in the draft. Lucas I predict will slip way down and I think that's why we pushed for rookie

For me we need key defenders and Sam Haynes don’t cut it. It is just like getting Marchbank with getting a couple of extra games per year. I would go after Leek Aleer. Matt Carroll can’t seem tog et on the park so if we keep him why is he taking a list spot ? He would have to re rookie and your boy Dom mate you have a soft spot for him but you have to let him go.

I'd agree. Remember you can only make so many list changes, so mass culling is going to be hard to find equal players. Matt Carroll will be en par with anyone round 5 of draft which is effectively where we took him (rookie) and we took him with a long term injury (roughly 6 months into the year we estimated) so I'd see it as a look at him again, Dom like I say if you find either some merit or something not better CAT b don't count on your list with the extension now so play ball with it. Haynes don't mind marchbank durdin injured, Haynes advantage is even if he is injured he needs more combined at the level then the other 2 thus it's a great point of coaching in vfl, and then you have young and hopefully like discussed you trade in a Leek etc and suddenly your net positive where you are today

Can’t disagree with any of that Pom. Martin, Cunners and Marchbank have well and truly proven they can’t stay fit. Jack Carroll is an interesting one as I think he could be a consistent AFL standard footballer but I don’t think he gets the opportunities at Carlton. Better to move on and get someone else in to fill another need.

It’d be sad to see Marchy go but it’s probably the right call, I would of loved to see him and gov play 20+ games together each yr they would of created a wall of intercept, contested marks and allow Weiters to easily mop up anything that got through Martin played some cracking footy in the second half of last yr but the long injury history can’t be ignored anymore unfortunately I think our list manager has a good track record at both blues and dogs of picking good talent at both ends of the draft and being a smooth operator getting deals done so hopefully we continue to see that from him again this yr

I genuinely think we have to look at his history. Injuries have been his issue nearly his entire career. Jsos plays 3rd why he was drafted and where he's had success and he's had one injury and is cheaper. If a 3rds on the table which I think is hella overs historicallt for him you take the punt in my opinion and move on

On the other hand, you can have the quantity over quality argument. Neither Marchbank or Durdin qualify for the latter. Marchy will always have issues with his body. Easier said than done, but we need to recruit a couple of key defenders.

Long term it pays you back. Taken ages for us to get the favours Acres. HOLLANDS etc so sometimes you have to do the deal at cost and it will thank you later. Don't expect more than a 3rd for either Martin or Carroll with a pick exchange

We desperately need to trade out our fragility. It's no use saying "Oh just wait til Cunners and Marchie are back" if they're gonna be out again in a month. You can't build a team around that. If you listed off Carlton's most consistently reliable players of this year off the top of your head, i guarantee at least 80% would be on the 23 games list. For reference, that is Cripps, Kennedy, Newman and Owies, all players that are regularly mentioned, especially by you, Pom. Just look at what Cowan has become this year, just because he's always been there to learn and grow. I'd drop half our backline in a heartbeat for rookies if they all developed and matured like Cowan has, and we'd have a premiership by next year.

Best comment I’ve heard this year cut the injury prone players including cerra and play our youth . Voss and assistant coaches failed this year not playing them in games of bottom sides on ladder to steadfast our development let’s just hope these overpayed. Coaches pull their head out of their arse next year in regards to our youth . Positions should be earned at training competing against one another so we know who our best are , it’s not rocket science Voss ,hamil,Hansen.. wake up .

Don't be daft thats a break of contract cooks your salary cap he's contracted for another year either traded or you keep him. Delisting in contract counts as he's on the list and makes you unattractive to players

Interesting take Pommy, for me I see Carlton in the window of trying to win a flag clearly your not so sure....for me you keep your older players in Cunningham, Martin, Marchbank all under 30 for depth and add Hinds to that, yes trade out Jack Carroll if there is a taker and delist Sammy Durdin, but I think IF your trying to win a flag you need depth and having bigger stronger bodies will help us get there, Cunningham in 2023 helped us get back into the 8, Martin we currently don't have a player who can replace his point of difference in the forward line (hard at the ball, marks over head, good shot on goals), Marchbank is our depth for the backline and add in Hinds and we have 2. for me losing the following players wouldn't hurt us short or long term and I'm not suggesting we get rid of all these players, I'm saying anyone of these players could be traded or delisted and it won't hurt us. Jesse Motlop - third best small Fantasia - not sure his role don't think anyone really knows what is doing, maybe as a linking player from the contest. Carroll - good on the the spread but isn't the best kick and isn't as hard as Lord. Corey Durdin - fourth best small Binns - IF he could apply pressure around the ground keep him, but he can't tackle and won't. Lemmey - Great kid but we have Harry, Charlie, TDK, Kemp, SOS, Moir, Martin so right now I don't see enough in his performances in the reserves to get anymore time. Matt Carroll - don't think we need him. Sam Durdin - gone. Akuei - gone. Mirkov - just to big for modern day footy if he isn't up to a Sam Darcy standard then he isn't going to make it.

100% think they are in the windows. But serially injured marchbank and cunners under different regimes. From almost drafting. Haynes I see as a risk reqaed it's recent injuries but his leadership paramount vs cunners and marchbank both have game exp of a 3rd year player. For me you dfa your depth or get creative with what's on the list. We have about 2 players back half mid forward who are copy and paste of blokes in the side get a bit creative with futures and mirror Geelong with getting 2 3 year players on brink who you can offer footy too. For mine the worst part of our list management in the first 5 years was this obssession with maybe they'll be good vs being active

Feel bad about Martin, but unless he'll take minimum wage to be a mentor in the VFL (I'd say he has a lot to offer) with the occasional cameo on the main stage, maybe they can find a list manager who likes taking a chance on a constantly injured player. Jack Carroll is going to contribute now, and we need that depth, so why toss that aside for another prospect? We should be in win-now mode. Akue should be showing more by now. No idea what to do here. Same with Mirkov. Cunningham's latest shoulder injury was pure thug contact, not his body's fault. But I've never been that enamored as others have. Ditto Marchbank, although his failure to appear this year was due to Boyd sitting on his head then a concussion in the 2s. Awful luck, but we're not keeping someone based on one good game in finals and nothing more for years. Weitering apparently loves him, so I guess we'll see just how much influence he really has on things. Nobody's going to offer anything for these guys, especially if a team figures they can pick someone up for peanuts after being de-listed.

Going ti be interesting. Like Carroll I'm a fan but at this stage it's depth and I don't see him peaking above Kennedy so while we have Kennedy and depth I'd if the offer is right convert him into something we maybe need now

Clean out the always injured deadwood...Marchbank, Cunningham and Martin. I don't understand why Carlton would even consider Nick Haynes. What does he have to offer? Don't need another list clogger. When Jack Carroll was drafted, he was seen as a real bargain. Unfortunately, he has struggled to secure a permanent spot in the side.

Think nick purely is the ideal replacement for durdin same contract price as it's billed as low tier and it's purely ecperience in the back half training. Truth be told our "teachers" are marchbank and durdin both ain't really got their careers going with injury and games played. Haynes played at highest level and is a better break glass in emergency fit. Shame about Jack

Marchy never gonna just get fit. Post 20s if you have littered injuries and it's not same injuries it's all over his body it's for me loser mentality that we expect him to suddenly go well. Young is your perfect second in line depth player. Hate he cops is similar to Sam frost at hawks, they've replaced him now but worst case he holds an end up and is always fit. Add a project key with him and a senior key like leek aleer and youge nailed list management

i wouldnt get rid of martin, he would be a resign for me. He is brave and can catch, the 2 biggest assets any player can have. Give the new fitness guy a shot first. jack carrol trade out if we need room. Nic Haynes was good but that game against doggies was horrod, do we really have room for that atm. Go after gov's big brother , cosy picket and jobe shanahan. if we get all 3 and martin plays 20 games we can really compete against sydney , brisbane, doggies, freo , port and hawthorn next year. else where ratshit

Can't see us having cap space or materials to bring in players like that, like for me love the concept of martin but again it's a possy we have depth in moir, jsos to return and kemp could naturally swing as the 3rd. No mate ,Martin has cost us 850 000 a year , we can’t risk that in our salary cap .club fitness coaches have failed supporters and players this year thank god Andrew is gone .

Aternoon pommy just catching up with the new programme. Durdin deffo out, list sitter at best injured a lot at worst, Owies deffo a keep, still more to give I think especially if we get our forward set up going and trust worthy in front, besides we've given him the apprenticeship so why hand him off for someone else to reap the rewards of his maturity. Martin, if someone offered 20 cent sell, personally done with him. Bow at the feet of the knowledgeable one thats you pom concerning jack carrol. We haven’t got anything out of these 3this year ,and we won’t throw cerra out for trade bait for a big back Tomlinson to help down back or Tim embrey even better .
