I'm using a couple 150W Power max dischargers. They are great but very slow as there is no load feature. I think I'll try one of those :) BTW - That is a 3mm plug that goes into a special USB converter. Great post brother! Have an awesome week!

This reminds me of those old VHS devices that do nothing but rewind the tape. You still need the VCR. This is why I bought a quad charger. I think 1.6 was the amps it balance discharged on each channel. Be kind, rewind.

Without a balance port this device will never discharge all the cells to correct storage voltage. There will always be deviations between each cell of the battery as shown in your video. Better to get a balance charger with inbuilt discharge function instead, or use a lipo balancer with discharge function.

I know, 4 years old, but.....The same thing would happen if you discharged the battery in your vehicle. If a battery was out of balance after LVC in your vehicle, it would also be out of balance at the storage voltage this discharger cuts off. This is a quick way to get the juice out. At that point you could use one of those voltage monitor cards which has a balance mode to take out the rest. In the case that you may have a bad cell, you could also connect one of those monitor devices to the balance lead as you discharge. There are very few affordable chargers which will discharge at any more than about 2 amps. This is a useful device, IMO, even now, 4 years later.

Hi Ali i just wanted ask a quick question about your isdt fd-100, sorry i know its an old video but maybe you could answer, ive had my isdt for a while now but today it blew in a puff of smoke when discharging a 6s lipo so just wanted ask if yours still working and maybe im just unlucky? Thanks.

mine gets very hot but still working, however I am sure it will go in smoke soon. as my other discharger did. Now I am using SkyRC D200Neo and T1000 with their new BD350 40A 350W Discharger and it does amazing job, discharging batteries quick and safe and during this time I can also analyze the battery and its health on my smart phone app Live. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWmwfHSEj7SmaM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eX_KkH1vapWLgZo

isnt it important to discharge with a balance lead , in case one cell is out of balance?

it makes no sense to me why they didnt add a balance lead , and should have an alarm . This is very inferior to our chragers

Interesting review but can you tell me when buying a new lipo it is always fully charged? Also having the battery on storage charge to long, if it goes down to 3volts per cell it will not take a charge anymore and you can throw your new expensive battery away. Also I have had battery's on storage charge that have puffed up so really I do not know what is the best thing to do. Most of my lipo's are fully charged for years and still give me full flight times and are not puffed.I have a DJI Mavic that the battery will discharge itself after a few days if not used, also they advise not to charge the battery after flight, but to charge them again when you are planning to fly

Rudy L I custom build and fly using 3s-6S Lipo's. I have never received a fully charged lipo to date. Mine arrive with a storage voltage level. I've left them in the box up to 6 months sometimes. I do a full change and go fly my new lipo. Interesting I have had lipos go bad by fully changing and letting them sit for extended periods. 1:12 is what I discovered when I began flying a few years ago and so far this hasn't changed (at least for me it hasn't). What type of batteries are you using? Even my P4 have a built-in voltage regulator that will discharge to storage if not used.

I am disappointed to see that it does not monitor each of the cells, it is simply measuring the combined voltage of all cells. Thus you could end up with some cells discharged much more than others. I think a good discharger should monitor all cells and switch them in and out as needed.

But your RC vehicle doesn't monitor each cell during use. So not a big deal. I just got one of these and I just plugged in a lipo checker so I can see each cell.
