I taught myself to embroider from books at the library - I wish there was the internet back in the "olden day"! Maybe I wouldn't have had to tear out so many stitches "24" times each! Hahaha! I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your approach to teaching this extraordinary craft. I like to listen to your voice - so soothing, and so much information that is new to me! Thank you so very much! (to you, your video/audio editor, and of course, the fabulous feline who manages to sneak into many of your shots!)

Thank you so much! I had perchased a kit that had the wrapped outside ring. My dog got ahold of it. It smelled like wood and chewed like wood. I had some leftover fabric from a little horse barn quilt that i made for my 6 year old granddaughter loves horses. It had similar colors and flowers that were in the cross stitch boot that i stitched. Below the boot, it says, "Life is better in boots." Needless to say, the boot is a flowery cowgirl boot. I ended with an inch of extra fabric after wrapping the outside hoop. The fabric was wide, but not long, so i used four pieces of the fabric and stitch them in place once i had them wrapped. Your video helped me get through it. Many thanks. May God bless you and your family. ❤

Recently discovered your wonderful channel with such clear and patient tutorials. You weave together knowledge and inspiration with peace. Treated myself to a new standing frame and hoops, then courageously cut my one precious fat quarter of Liberty lawn into bias strips. Seemed so wrong, but now the delicate floral wraps all three hoops and makes me smile when working on the things that WILL eventually go to others I love. Thanks for all you do.

I absolutely LOVE 💕 your suggestion on using a piece of beautiful quality cotton fabric (regardless of the fabric brand) to wrap your embroidery hoops with! I am now going to rewrap my hoops using some of my gorgeous quality quilters cotton or Liberty lawn floral fabric that I have had stashed away to use one day.

First off: your videos are awesome for a beginner, especially trying to learn Medieval style embroidery. Secondly: today I learned that a hobby store for sewing is called a Haberdashery in the UK and that made me smile that the word is still in use and not just for hats. Keep up the amazing work, you have a captive audience!

I have no idea how you ended that stitch… I zoomed in and have watched it over and over but I can’t tell if you knotted the thread during the jump cut or if you’re pulling the needle through a loop in the thread or if you’re just stitching back and forth until there’s enough hold or… ? Also, are you pulling the thread until it breaks? Or is that sound just the thread being pulled through the fabric on the final stitch? It’s just hard to see with your hands and the thread being a bit tangled, as well as being white like the fabric. This isn’t meant to be critical because your channel is wonderful and I have learned so much from you about this wonderful art form!! Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge and experience!

Hello, and thanks for an instructive video! My second language English sometimes fails me when it comes to words that are only used in certain fields. Is "bias bindning" the same kind of folded cotton ribbons that can be used to hem things? Because I'm sure I have that in a drawer somewhere ...
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery

Yes Anneli, bias binding is folded ribbon used to hem things. You can use strips of fabric if you can't find it in your drawer! Please don't hesitate to ask if there is anything you don't understand in the future...

@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery I found silk paper on my usual craft store's website and it wasn't really expensive (at least coming from someone who does watercolour, now that's expensive paper).
