Yes, I think Ruth Stout did too. Have you ever read her book? It is a hoot, she had such a great sense of humor and it came through in her writing.

I like your comment - enjoy your garden and not be a slave to it. I tour my garden daily, to relax, and keep up on chores. You have a great attitude!

Thank you, my garden is rarely neat and tidy but that is not my goal. I want to enjoy my time in it. So anything I do is with that goal in mind.

You are so right. The best thing you can do is try. We never fail, we just learn.

With daisies galore in my gardens, I liked the idea of tying them back with pantyhose when they begin to flop! I have pulled many, cut them back, but never tried tying them back where I do want them. They can totally take over a garden quick! ❤

They are super easy to dig up where I don't want them so I do let them reseed as will. But yes, they can really come up all over the place.

I really enjoy your practical advice Pam! Funny I noticed the light lessening today too, but I haven’t picked up the scent of Fall yet!

We really got a cool down! We went to Elk Grove, CA yesterday and it was chilly first thing in the morning. The breeze was brisk. It felt like FAll though I agree, the scent is not here yet. Funny how each season has a distinctive scent to it.

Hi Pam 😊 This video was so satisfying! Lol 😂 enjoyed watching you doing this and that. I just came inside from working on drip irrigation… it’s the year of irrigation. Because like you, I don’t want to be slave to my garden! It’s meant to be a place of peace and serenity for me… thus the year of irrigation 😂 Gorgeous garden Pam. Just love it. Thanks for sharing your time and space ❤

Yes, let's keep our spaces our enjoyment and not our task master! I have been tweaking my irrigation this year, finding where it is not getting the job done and fixing that. Next is to figure out how to put it on a timer.

That’s interesting about food waste. I didn’t know it caused so much Co2. I have a worm farm so my kitchen scrapes go into that except for meat. Makes me feel that much better about making my own compost. 😁❤️

I have a worm bin too but I need to get it set back up. The chickens get a lot of our scraps but I would love to have some worm dirt too.

I have those same shears and another-always have a backup😅. I need to do the irises. And I was just thinking forget me knots 😂I have realized where the stick tights came from. I’m trying to get myself up to go fight the mosquitoes to trim tomatoes. Debating whether to try copper again to back off early blight. I never wore gloves very much until in 2022 I was pulling weeds and ragweed. My hands inflamed and now I have eczema on my hands. It’s been awful! They flare just before increased heat and should be used in telling the weather. It’s near impossible to do anything at times. That along with mosquitoes and having to overdress with head net has made gardening stressful and I can’t sit out and enjoy the garden. I may have to get a yard spray, but it’s a large area, so…🤷♀️. I’m also very careful with hedge trimmer ps as I had a close call with those once. We no longer have hedges 😂. Thanks for the tips. I just cut foxgloves and will disperse in flower meadow. On to the hollyhocks-the poor rusty things.

That is what I like about these type hedge trimmers, I have to have both hands on the handles to work them. I don't trust myself with powered ones. I hope the mosquitoes let up for you. They are still bothersome here and usually then quiet down a bit by this time of year. Not sure where they are nesting.

Hi Pam, I hope your new jobs is going well for you! I too, watch alot of gardening shows 😂 and have been trying out the planting in containers and bringing them in for colors as they bloom. It is wonderful!!!!! My soil is a work in progress (clay, clay, clay). Some gardens are better than others but I can shift pots of blooming flowers as others go down or I prune back blooms. I am going to do more and more, thank you Claus Dalby. What are the pretty tall purple blooms in the final setting that are on your left and my view right please.

Thank you. That plant is Verbena Bonariensis "Vanity", I grew them from seed and there were supposed to be the shorter variety but they aren't. They are pollinator magnets and come back every year for me.
@MarigoldsintheGarden13 күн бұрын
Dead heading is a big job! Is there is time for you to get a rebloom on any of your plants? You are having such warm weather there for October.
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse13 күн бұрын
Our weather has been so super warm for October and I doubt I can get much if any more bloom this season. We could suddenly drop in temps anytime but it has been a long enjoyable summer so I will not complain. I am focused on fall chores and getting the garden ready for winter as much as I can while still enjoying what is still blooming for me. I am getting my new bearded iris planted too.

Sure thing, here is my blog post all about growing Daisies: www.flowerpatchfarmhouse.com/how-to-grow-daisies/ No I do not cut them to the ground, I cut back to the next bud ready to flower.
