Here it has been okay, we have gotten 3 inches of rain since yesterday most of it overnight. It had stopped a bit and you should have heard the birds singing, I wanted to record it but was in the middle of something. Now it is looking darker again and the birds have gone (huddled up somewhere warm for the next wave of rain I suspect)

I will be sure to share the painting I did for my husband in a video soon.

We are moving and won’t be in our house until the middle of winter. I dug up some of my favorite irises and put them in pots to over winter. I’ve put the pots in the garage for the winter. Do I still water them? How do I take care of them until I can plant them in the Spring?
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse2 күн бұрын
Unless they get powdery dry I would not worry about them, they should do fine. If you feel you need to during the winter, give them maybe half a cup of water each but really, if the soil is moist that you pot them in this should not be necessary, unless the garage is heated, that is a different story.

Great educational video. I loved it. I grew some the year before, and they performed really well for me.They performed better for me than petunias, like the mini vistas. But in all fairness, I did not fertilize the mini vistas, the way they probably should have been fertilized, and I don't think they were getting enough sun. Thank you for the free principle and that is a good lesson that you said to use the planner and try to be more organized and remember what you planted where because I'm always putting little tags in and you've got to bend down and try to read the tag if it hasn't faded. Sometimes, with the wind we have here in Indiana, if they're not in the ground really good, they blow away. I have a garden journal. I bought Linda Vater's garden journal, and I love it. I was diligent every day writing it. And then about May, when I got really busy, when I really should have been writing in it, I stopped.❤❤
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse4 күн бұрын
Yep, I failed and continuing in my garden journal too and I could kick myself as I forgot where I put some things. After saying I was going to start some from seed I could not find a reputable supplier for them. I found a couple but after researching them a bit they did not sound legit. Oh well, I will divide this container and fill another and go with that for now.

I plant like they do in Ireland and the Uk where they don’t use mulch. They plant close enough the you are not seeing the soil. More plants less weeding.
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse4 күн бұрын
I do that too and I don't have to weed but I have a tendency to plant too close. One plant can cover the same ground as two if given their proper spacing and they can be healther.

Speaking of "deer pruning", I planted a rabbit brush as a local monarch plant and found that I have to prune it in the Spring (it had gotten long and was laying on the ground rather than being "a shrub"). The info said that since the rabbit and deer in the wild are natural pruners that shrubs in the city have to be manually pruned. Trippy, huh?

I'm just letting the ones that die back down to the ground, like the hostas, I'm just letting them do it. normally, I would cut them back, but i'm just lazy this fall for some reason. Your greenhouse is no different than mine right now, and I get what you're saying. Sometimes, it's hard to get started because it gets overwhelming.That's where i'm at. ❤❤

Yep, I decided to just hop in and not worry too much about finishing it and just tackle what I could. Hi, I enjoy watching your videos. Decluttering and organizing is a big interest of mine. I recommend you pick up one item at a time and make a decision about it and follow through before you put it down. I can see you feel overwhelmed and pick up an item and say what you need to do with it but then you put it down and this makes you have to touch an item many times before the task is completed.

Lol, what to do with all those pots is my dilemma. I had a tree frog get trapped under one because I probably moved them and he got trapped and the water sits on the rims and mosquitoes breed. We put up a leanto and shelf and still need to gather that trash heap together, but in the throws of getting that heat sink done yet. It all has to get done as those out west snows happened and end of next week it will have arrived here. The rest of spring bulbs came yesterday 🎉so that’s one thing to do today. Then spread those poppy seeds in the flower area in the other garden. So much to do, but once organized is a great feeling-which seems to be a shortage right now for many. Oh, there was a newer vid on 20 ways to get rid of mice mainly using baking soda mix. I’m on a vole hunt and mice as they had already chewed wires on rider 🤬.
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse8 күн бұрын
Ugh, mice. Hmm, I haven't heard of the baking soda fix but I do have the repels all, I need to spread more of it as I could smell a skunk around the chicken pen again. There is a spray that is super bitter that works for the wires, my dad used to use it, but I can't remember what it is called. I have the sticky traps for mice but don't like them much, they do work though.
@dustyflats38328 күн бұрын
@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse we use the plastic Tom Cat traps for mice and rat traps for gophers. I will have to checkout something to spray on wires as some were pretty short to be able to repair again. The baking soda vid usually used a 2 part baking soda to a 1 part cornmeal, or plaster Paris and many others he mentioned. Also had bucket trap.
