Keep your lawn WEED FREE: golfcourselawn.store/collections/lawn-weed-killers/pre-emergent

don't take this the wrong way but you, youtubers make these videos every year say stuff like "want a weed free lawn" put a pre emergent down and everything will be perfect which is the farthest thing from the truth. you and I both know it only stops maybe 3 different weeds and that's all. when I first started doing my own lawn I fell for it then a few months later I'm wondering why there's weeds all over the place.

@@billyjohnas2652 I apply pre-emergent twice per year billy. Once in the spring and once in the fall. I don't have weed problems in my lawn. Outside of perhaps sedges in areas that see a lot of settled water, you shouldn't have weeds in your lawn if you apply pre-emergent properly. Thanks for watching.

Hey Ron, really enjoy your videos and all the great info. I used Prodiamine full strength in Sept of last year, I'd like to apply a spring preemergent, I am in SE North Caroline with a centipede grass, would Atrazine liquid be ok to apply now, and use the Certainity and Celcius combo once it warms up a bit maybe in May or June? thanks again

As long as Atrazine is safe on your grass type, your plan could work. Certainty and Celsius would work now too though. Hope this helps.

@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
I don’t do them Ptro. Have had great success with single app at higher rates
@Ptro1 Жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry so you just do the max .83oz app rate in the spring? I’ve been doing half spring half fall. Might break the spring one and do two .183oz 6ish weeks apart
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
I do .80 once this time of year and then switch to a different pre-emergent in the fall. If you’ve been having good results doing split apps then continue doing it. I’ve just not found it necessary to do multiple apps in the spring. Either way works.

Hey Ron, how you doing last year I reseeded, over seeded kbg section, a rye and kbg blend section, to test out , it took off great, still green from last year, I’m in Louisville Kentucky and I planted the seed in August September of last year. Do you still think I should forgo any pre-emergent this spring and just plan to use any weeds with a post application for crabgrass and if so what would you use? Thanks
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
Given that you have cool season grass Jeff, I'd forego pre-emergent until the fall. For post emergent herbicide, I'd use Tenacity and Sedgehammer. Spot spraying weeds with that combination will clean up most of what you're likely to have in your lawn. Be sure to use surfactant with Tenacity for best results. Can get them here: golfcourselawn.store/collections/lawn-weed-killers

Thanks for the quick response Ron appreciate your help. Love your videos, joyed talking to you last year too. I did get an real mower the one that uses the ego batteries wanted to see how I like the cut before I splurge for the big one like you have mines like the one you won! So with that being said, I did put in a little golf green with T1 bent grass in about a 10 inch of sand Pete mixture is the base came in wonderful now my question to you is, I heard that I cannot use tenacity on Bentgrass. I can use tenacity everywhere else, but just not on the gulf green. Do you happen to know of anything that I can use for weed control in Bent grass? I haven’t started cutting it low yet. I wanted it to come in thick. I’ll see if I can send a photo. Thanks.

Hello Ron. Long time no contact. I took hiatus from yard. Question. can I apply tenacity spot spray on tall fesque in high 59 degree to my POA annua to help slow seed growth until I do fall pre emergent to help eliminate it for next yr? Aware tenacity is pre emergent also and only suppression. 2 soon to spray 1 day prior to being 2 weeks from blanket pre emergent spray this month? Had Weedman do 2 so call post emergents Nov and dec last yr after aeration and reseed. Weedman claim illegal to spray POA for them until November which is too late by POA germination period. I am done with aeration this yr and plan to Reseed some spots this spring after reseed last yr didn’t fill all areas. POA took up most of the bare spots. 28 days from this yr pre emergent safe to reseed ?
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
Hi Eric. Tenacity in 59 degree weather should be fine. If you’re spacing out the Tenacity application 28 days from when you plan to seed, that should work well. Really after 3 weeks you should be good. If you’re using it for post-emergent purposes, use surfactant with it for best results. If using for pre-emergent in seeding prep, then you’d water it in. Hope this helps.
@ericb2861 Жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry well the POA is very active so it’s really a post emergent even thou bottle says it’s not for POA. I just thought if I spot spray only the poa I don’t have to mow down the seed as often until it die in summer. I plan to reseed very soon in bare areas where I don’t put tenacity. So I count 28 days from pre emergent for general yard blanket spray Feb 6th not from today for spot tenacity POA spray to reseed ? Make sense?

Last year i struggled with poa annua. But as of today, i havent seen any poa annua yet but it may pop up once its warmer. Is it still ok to apply IMAGE in order to prevent poa annua? Or only required to apply oncei see the them? Also, do you sugguest doing a split treatment for prodamine or applying it now all at once for a season is more effective? As always tour videos are superb. Keep up the good work.

Hi Praveen. It's not going to hurt to put a little image in the tank. I don't personally do split applications but that doesn't mean it's the only way. I think your application rate is too low! My mix rate is 1.25 oz to a gallon of water for a 8 month application. Prodiamine has become to expensive now to use for the value so I will be going back to Lesco PREm since I can get twice the coverage for around the same price. I'm comparing PREm 2.5 gallon container to a 5lb container of prodiamine.

Hi Kerry. Per the label it's .83 oz per gallon per 12 months for Bermuda. It may have changed but that's what it was the last time I looked at it.
