Jonathan, have had keeper for about 5 years on my iPhone but could never really understand how to create a good password and then be able to automatically login, so I’ve never installed it to either my PC or MacBook. I just created my own passwords and used Keeper to store them. But now thanks to your vlog which was expertly and very well presented, I now have a far far better understanding of keeper, I’ll now install on my PC and refer to your vid always, thanks, Take care, stay safe 😃👍

Hi -- two quick followups. You don't mention password imports from other managers. How easy is that? Also, if Keeper has this zero-knowledge architecture, how does it know which of your passwords are found through the breach check. Is it monitoring your passwords behind the scene, or only when you go to the breach check? Don't understand this. Great review, though. Thanks.

Thank you for the extremely concise and easy to follow tutorial for Keeper. Not only are humans lazy about passwords, I actually got my Keeper license 3 months ago and have been dragging my feet to get it done. This video explains it well and the 2FA doesn't look like the hassle I expected it to be. Great job !

Thank you for this very well done instructional video for Keeper. The 2FA section was very interesting. How can you enable this if you already have 2FA set up, but it's not associated to Keeper? Thank you
@bearded365guy
@bearded365guy 5 ай бұрын
Hello, thank you! It would depend on the application. For Microsoft 365 for example you would need to log into your 365 and remove the 2fa and add a new one. This would be the case for other applications too. It might take a while to work around them, but it will be worth it in the end.

@@bearded365guythank you so much for your help. I'm assuming that as I add 2FA access to my Keeper accounts, they will NOT appear in my 2FA app now - is this correct? If so, this approach seems much more secure and streamlined. Thanks again for your help.

I know that AES-256 is extreme;y secure but even so, as an additional safety measure, one thing that I never do is make use of any 2FA feature in a password manager. This is because the only way I can see this feature working is that the password manager, Keeper managing 2FA for LinkedIn using the example you showed, is that Keeper has an extra field in the vault entry for LinkedIn where it stores the site/user specific seed code (which is what the QR code is encoding) that primes the TOTP code generation algorithm for that particular login. What that means is that if somehow the Keeper vault encryption was hacked (someone discovering a miraculous previously unimaginable attack, a user being unbelievably unlucky and a brute force search stumbling on their key early in the absolutely huge search space, or even a probably transient bug in Keeper client-side code causing the AES-256 encoding to not happen as intended prior to server upload) then the hackers not only have your password but they can also download an Authenticator app and give it the seed that will generate valid TOTPs for the site. What I do is store my 2FA seeds in a totally separate app on my iPhone to generate my 2FA codes (I use Authy with cloud sync disabled) so to compromise one of my 2FA accounts hackers would not only need to breach Keeper and defeat its encryption but they would also need to come and find me and physically steal my phone (and get pass the FaceID biometrics)

Hi, I agree. I don’t use the 2fa within the password manager. I think that is an ‘all eggs in one basket’ approach. I use Authy for my 2fa. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you Jonathan. What I don't like is that I cannot be sure Keeper is not stealing my data. I just do not trust them, no matter how many external audits they show me.
@bearded365guy
@bearded365guy Жыл бұрын
It’s zero trust technology. Keeper can’t see your passwords, even if they wanted to.
@esaedvik
@esaedvik Жыл бұрын
You still have to trust them in that they have actually implemented things like that. But yeah, external audits and certifications etc. are a pretty solid way of knowing what's up. Or just host your own password manager, that's always an option if you don't trust anyone.

I use multiple logins on the same sites for multiple clients. Can I set up autofill for each account? Using your LinkedIn example in the video, would I be able to set up multiple emails/usernames for LinkedIn with a unique password for each login? If I can, will each autofill?
@bearded365guy
@bearded365guy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, yes it will. With your LinkedIn example, when you get to the LinkedIn sign in page, Keeper will recognise that it’s LinkedIn. It will show how many ‘matching logins’ you have for LI stored in your Keeper. You simply click on the login you want to use from the drop down and providing you’ve opted for auto fill, it will log you in automatically.

@@bearded365guy This has been the stuff of nightmares. It automatically logs me into my most recent youtube account before I get a chance to swap them. I had to remove heaps of data on my iphone after I changed my apple password. I have had to keep going into the Keeper Program and manually typing some obscure 30 character monstrosity to get into the phone. I have typed around 500 2 factor authorisation passwords in the past few hours just to prove to these websites i am who i say. I try to change my password in some games and there are errors all over the place. What am I supposed to do if I want to log into my accounts on someone else's computer, which I do all the time? This is a life sentence!!!! I STRONGLY ADVISE ANYONE TO USE A PEN AND PAPER AND DO NOT BUY PASSWORD MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE!!!!!!!
