I was wondering why you preferred the excavator over the dozer for pushing over trees. I have 200 acres 25 miles north of Duluth, MN. I rented a dozer to get some access trails through the woods. Pushed over every tree without any issue. Usually the dozer wouldn't even slow down. But the root balls weren't near as deep as what you're dealing with. I'm in heavy, huge bolder country up there and the trees are mostly ash, poplar, cedar, birch and maple. I've got a lot more boulders than I do trees! Boulders don't have root balls so they move around pretty easy. They do like to pop tracks off the dozer once in awhile. Great video. Love that dozer! Great price on it too! Well done!

Good to see you out at the farm and you know watching you run the dozer brings back memories of our family vacations to Florida and going with my Grandfather running the dozer while working for the state building highways back in the early and mid 60's. Five minutes later he is still talking about diverting water. Next thought need to re-read subject line. Conflicted thought, should I tell on myself? Too funny can't let that one go.

There is a cheating method of a french drain that only requires sandy soil that can help to dry out the ground around it without expensive materials or open ditches. Simply back filling the trenches that daylight with sandy soil will give the wet soil around them places to loose water to. They will silt up after a few years but that is generally all you need before you have the area sloped and grass/ground cover planted. A great method to dispose of the sand you get from a pond dredging if you can keep it from the mud/muck.

Diesel Creek while the soil is still damp, it’s better to put down a large diameter base rock 2”-3” in order to give solid footing for the smaller road base to sit on top of. If you only put down typical gravel road base, it will sinks into the mud and disappear completely after a year or two

Hey Matt. Looks like you got a good start on the slopes. If you don't mind, I can make a suggestion to you. Since you got to cut down the trees and you have plenty there, you could probably use them as base laying them up against the sides and back of the building. You can build the slopes from them. This way you won't flatten the ground out in time. If you can understand what saying here that is. Just trying to help Matt. Thanks for sharing.

It should be made into a Cologne, that and hot gear oil...
@DieselCreek

dan mackintosh ehhh idk about the gear oil, but I’d wear the first one... or maybe a scented candle... also cow manure (not dairy cow) that’s another candle I want

@@DieselCreek Actually maybe not gear oil so much, just the smell of hot machinery that has a hint of gear oil in there... I must be strange, the smell of EP oils actually makes me hungry! And whatever you do, make sure it's DEFINITELY not dairy cow... Egg sandwiches anybody?
