Ricard Hulteke thanks for the kind words mate. These adult pairs have gone to a great home and I’m able to get updates on them whenever I like so I’m happy with that at least.

It really aches that you have to get rid of your monitors... I've just got into them in the past few months and I can't imagine anything without any one of them... Best of luck moving forward with your pythons again!

Ryan Acraman thanks Ryan. Yeah it really sucks but I’ll still have a few monitors here. Just not enough to justify breeding woodies. It leaves an opportunity to get into some different species.

@ I’ve heard of 90-100 cm individuals too, maybe genetic outliers? Most individuals I’ve seen seem to be same length as that male but nowhere near as bulky

They are a great group of lizards. These days anywhere from $250 (if you’re lucky)- $400 for Tristis. More for Orientalis.

Love the video mate, I just bought one of these the other day and ive noticed its abit hard to get info online about them or maybe im doing something wrong, how do you come about all your logs and try plants?
@BeachesScalyBeasts2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Most of the logs are collected locally or bought from pet shops. Fake plants I usually get either from pet shops or online.

Hey, this video is pretty old, so i'm not sure you'll see my comment, but I have a couple of husbandry questions because google is giving me... inconsistent answers. My tristis seems happy enough with his set up, but if there's anything i can do to make him happier, I'd like to do it. What humidity level do you recommend for these guys? i keep my tank at around 40-45%, but no one I ask online seems to know if this is actually a good humidity or not. What's the actual temp range for these guys? I have the basking spot at 50°c (my thermostat doesn't allow it to get any hotter - i'm going to invest in a better one soon), and the cool side of the enclosure sits between 20-35°c depending on the time of year. Any hotter than 35°c outside, and i chuck an icepack in the cool side. Is there anything I could be doing better? I'm planning to build a new enclosure early next year, so I'd like to start planning for things like higher humidity, higher temps etc.
@BeachesScalyBeasts Жыл бұрын
Hi there! My room nowadays (see more recent videos) fluctuates between 60-80% humidity depending on the time of year. Temp wise I aim for a basking spot of 55-65c and aim for 25-30 at the further point away from the heat. My enclosures have come a long way since this video and whilst I haven’t made an updated care video I’d hope to think you can find some ideas in my more recent videos. I’ve not long done a “tour” video where you can see all my monitor enclosures.

Hi Andrew, there’s some good books out there on Australia monitor lizards. The best one for care in my opinion is A guide to Australian monitor lizards in captivity by Danny brown.

Nice video mate. So that enclosure is the 90x60x120cm reptile one vivarium? I was originally looking at the 120x60x120cm one because I thought they'd need the extra space, but if I could get away with the 90cm one that'd be great haha

What size enclosure for a single orientalis? Same as your black headed enclosure?
@BeachesScalyBeasts4 жыл бұрын
I’d probably go a 1200/600/600mm at minimum for an adult or something similar to my black head enclosure. My orientalis were house in a 1500/770/500mm.

@@BeachesScalyBeasts what about a more height oriented enclosure? Like 100cm x 140 x 50?

@@herkiee1 that’d be perfect. Heights always good for these guys but they are adaptable.
