I would appreciate it if you would have Lyn Alden and Jim Grant on at the same time to discuss Bitcoin. Both are very smart, respectful people with a different point of view. It should lead to a very interesting and informative discussion.

Great episode . Question, wouldn’t the real natural interest rates could never be found as long the fed balance sheet isn’t near 0 on treasuries holding ?

My long-term portfolio at 60% bitcoin and 40% fiat investments means I enjoy steady deflation (run the Kelly Criterion numbers on BTC's power law and you will see what I mean). Deflation seems like the good natural state of a sound money economy. What's there not to love about falling prices and the masses enjoying a decent store of value?

Mike, Harley, what impact to housing is the result of institutional buyers who bought high with sub 1% rates? The rumor is they own 25-28% of single family houseswhich are for rent, not ownership.

We are only 13 minutes or so but I have yet to hear any financial "expert" speak about the risk of war in several areas and the reaction of money around the world to that possibility. It is almost as if we in the states don't even consider war as a factor in what could happen to all these issues. i.e. rate cuts/hikes?

What about the risk of deflation under a gold standard? Wouldn't investments decrease, since it's better to just keep the gold?

57:30ish, you guys are talking about speculative activity and no IPOs - I wonder, does the ability to create tokens in minutes (based on animals, memes, narratives) in crypto count as “IPO” ? IMO, it does. Maybe there aren’t many IPOs occurring through equities but in crypto there are projects/“businesses”/ideas being conceived daily reaching hundred of million/billions in marketcap

46:15 "Shut down global trade"? You're referring to July 2020, when our seaports were backlogged for months with fully-laden cargo ships lined up as far as the eye can see? Or the ensuing months of record-shattering trade deficits, culminating in a blow-off month of over $100,000,000,000 in March 2022? Sometimes I don't know what reality you're living in

Bifurcation inflation/ disinflation. Boomers retiring and spending money on Millennial adults having there Grandchildren. Middle to lower class frozen out of housing market, credit card delinquencies rising, small business bankruptcies rising. To top it off government in US and Canada holding up the GDP because of green infrastructure spending. Ultimately ends in credit event.

Whats the use case of buying properties and just having them sit there without occupancy? Property is an increasing asset, highly illiquid. Bitcoin is digital property, highly liquid.

@@danielw.4049what he described very well is the value of open mindedness and that “nobody knows anything about anything”. What he actually said about Bitcoin after his reflexive “tulips” comment was that it “doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand it”.

Bitcoin is an open source computer algorithm. That's why you have over 20,000 cryptos out there. That's why there are at least four forks of the Bitcoin ledger. It's nothing unique at the functional level. Sure the brand pretending to be digital gold by depicting itself as a gold coin that's kind of unique (when excluding the forks)
