Hope you're 100% soon Greg! When I first started detecting a few years ago I dug an unremarkable find near the railroad tracks. Threw it in my pouch to dispose of when I got home. My son happened to be looking through the trash finds and said "hey Pop, I think this is old"... after cleaning and some research, it turned out to be a first-year Carhartt's overall button. Likely lost by a railroad worker in the late 1800s. Lesson learned-never toss a find until you know it's trash!

I love the program because it is absolutely amazing at separating and it's amazing how much it has pulled from some very hard hunted ground. Using the audio theme in Depth with it just makes it even more responsive. Give it a try at some of your hard hunted spots. Appreciate you watching and take care! ATB Greg.
@riddlesrelics1278Ай бұрын
cool hunt one question u said the halo effect what is that
@FindingAmerica29 күн бұрын
Thanks Randy and the halo effect is a chemical reaction between the minerals in the soil and the metallic content of the lost item. After many years, the soil will turn a darker color around the metal item and you will notice it when you are digging. when you see it, you'll know you are onto something old and something made of a decent metal; copper, bronze, brass, etc. The metal detector also picks up on the halo which allows it to detect the item easier as well as deeper. The longer the item has been buried the larger the area of halo there will be.
