With total water volume of 75 gal (sump) and Main display of 50 gal. I have been using Chemipure (since a won some on instagram) and been using. But for me it's a Refugium, a good protein skimmer, mariepure blocks, running filter socks. Nitrates are at 0-5ppm, then Nitrites and Ammonia are always at zero
@yearight18004 жыл бұрын
That’s nice man I hope to get a protein skimmer soon I heard they work wonders. I just have a sump I made out of a hang on filter and a big canister filter.
@lonestarpatriot8765 жыл бұрын
Have a nano and I don't run a skimmer because it is almost pointless on a nano to have one. Water changes are the cheapest and easiest way to export Nitrogen and Phosphates on a nano. You don't need a ton of equipment. If your Nitrates are at 20 ppm and you want them at 10 ppm you simply do a 50% water change. If you want them at 5 you simply do another 50% water change. If your Nitrogen is at 5ppm on a nano and you are doing weekly 10-20% water changes, your Nitrogen levels will remain pretty constant as long as you are not overfeeding and overstocking the tank. You can easily calculate exactly how much you need to change each week. I actually do two smaller changes a week that total a 25% weekly water change. Each change is 1 1/2 gallons of water on my nano and it takes only a few minutes to do while keeping everything stable always. The water column is being completely turned over each month. Also, love my Fighting Conce for turning over the sandbed. Best damn cleaner there is. I run ultra ultra high capacity Aqua Vitro GFO and the stuff is amazing.

Beautiful tank and very well explained...believe it or not apart from Nopox dosing i am running the exact same method as you to control no3 and po4 on my lagoon 50....likewise i have been seeing low nitrates and phosphates as well...i second your comment about Chaeto Reactor it by far has exceeded my expectations either not to mention healthy growth of chaeto eliminating any nuisance algae growth in there....
@eatsleepreef95656 жыл бұрын
Ash ya chaeto reactor is surely the future. Why waste all the real estate with refugiums.
@Moondoggy1941 Жыл бұрын
I trie to use my Rowa Phos in my reactor, I watched vides on how to do it, I made 3 gallons of RO water, I placed the pump and the reactor in a bucket and aimed the exhaust in another bucket. It used the 3 gallons of water, I placed the reactor in my tank and it still dumped red dust all over my tank, for me it is too much of a PITA to use.

Used cheato ractor for a while, worked good at start... then it stoped growing and got covered with red-green slime and cheato start diying. And cleaning an maintaining was a mess... now i pulled it out so far all good.

Have you ever had "Really Bad Gases" or just read about them? I had read about them, decades ago, but in reality never found any release of "really bad gasses" so I think they're a myth. Theoretically maybe they could be there but never in practice over 50 years and dozens of tanks. In the past I did do sand stirring in some tanks and not in others and occasionally in others. I'm working on designing a much larger tank and want a sand bed both in the tank and in the refugium but I don't plan to be stirring as that won't be practical so I'm looking to maximize stand stirring critters. I've also been reading a lot about the various ways that people are succeeding, and failing. There are a lot of people who succeed with sand bottoms, with bare bottoms, with skimmers, without skimmers, with refugiums, without refugiums, with cheato reactors, without... Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any good scientific statistically significant study comparing the whole matrix of options. Most information is merely anecdotal. Nice tank. I like your setup. Nice colors.

Where did u get chaeto reactor??? I have a 28.2 waterbox aio and having high nitrates thanks
@yearight18004 жыл бұрын
Just make your own sump it’s easy there’s videos you can just use a hang on filter. I run de-nitrate, nitrate filter pads, bio media, and chateo. You’ll save money and it works, ohh and I have a big canister filter I’m running a bio sponge, bio media, carbon, and filter floss. Keep up with water changes and thoroughly clean. My nitrates are always under 0.5 and nitrites 0 I have a 40 gallon.

Great Video, so having some issues and using your methods. Yep using Api reef for phosphate 1.0 no nitrates. I will invest in hanna checker phosphate, I have phosphates as have green to brown algae on rocks. Been using rowaphos in bag and media reactor along with carbon. Using protein skimmer, floss and filter socks, uv sterilizer. I started dosing red sea nopox 1m per day for 4 days and noticed alot being pulled out of protein skimmer and my socks more dirty. Does this mean it's working. I'm feeding corals ans under dosing the npox to slowly 🐌make changes to reduce the phosphate/ algae off rocks. Any advice for me System sump e260 litre redsea
