I work at a Red Wing store and just wanted to say on ALL BOA Boots that Red Wing/Irish Setter makes there is a lifetime warranty on ALL of the BOA system, so if anything breaks its covered for life, and as long as its not an eyelet, we can usually fix it in store within 24 hours or less depending on how busy we are. Love the BOA! APEX is also one of our hottest selling boots!

One thing I've found is that I've gotta have a boot sized for winter and one sized for summer, because I'm somebody who has to have toe wiggle room. That means something that still gives me this with thick winter socks, and one that fits the same with summer socks.

Been rocking the Jim Green Razorback steel toes on a big job for the past couple of months and they are awesome! Go about 5-10 miles a day on rocks, dirt, concrete, steel grating, caged ladders, etc it handles them all very well. Only thing I can might be an issue for some is the insole it comes with is a little hard. I personally like them, but if you don’t then you can easily swap them out for whichever ones you want.

All I wear is whites, Wesco, and Nicks and eventually I will try a pair of Franks most of my boots are going on 20+ years and if you oil them with the OBENAUFS and take care of them. They will last a very long time. My boots at this point owe me nothing but they are in pristine shape. All I do is send them back for resoling to me and my opinion, I only use vibram soles They’re the best in the business and I’ve been using them for over 40 years. And thank you for sharing the info on JK boots they make a nice boot without a doubt, but what you just showed me in your video. The front of the boot doesn’t look right at all and it shouldn’t be at that price. Keep these great videos coming and have a great day. Sincerely, Matt. Also check out Limmer boots they are a great walking boot once you break them in.

I started my quality-boot journey around 8 years ago with a pair of iron rangers. Bougt Wesco Jobmasters, 2 pair of Jim Green chuckas, and a pair of Drews contractors arrived last month. The Drews are on a completely different level than the Redwings, and imo even superior to the Wescos. Drews version of Horween Chrome Excel / Seidel Double Shot is unbelievable. Drews have to be the best quality to value boots in existence today. To top it off they fit better than anything else I own.

Really appreciate your videos! I don't work in the trades. But I wear boots daily just because I ride motorcycles and need something substantial. Also, I live in Minnesota and (other than this year), there's often snow on the ground. I have narrow feet and got tired of poor fitting boots that didn't last long. Ended up splurging on a pair of custom fitted Whites. I've had them resoled and rebuilt. I got a pair of Nicks for a second pair that I could wear when sending the Whites in, as well as just for variety. I wear them most often now. Occasionally I throw in a pair of sneakers, but I'm very happy with the Nicks, and also like the Whites. Yes they're heavy, but they fit great, very comfy, and durable.

I’m headed back out into the field after 2.5yrs in the office & looking for new boots. I’ve been doing my due diligence & researching daily. For now I’m just going to run with my Thorogood Steel Toe Moc Toes & a pair of Ariat Workhog XT. But going to give Drew’s a look and contemplating on pulling the trigger on some black Thorogood Moc Toes. But I’m going to running on Service & Small Projects, so I’m also leaving light weight & agile but also sturdy. So maybe leaning towards a carbon/comp/alloy toe & yes, a wedge sole. I need comfort at my age & while I love those Thorogood’s, the steel toe weight does catch up with me.

Great choice on the 3 pairs you’re keeping. I know exactly what you mean about boots that don’t breathe, a boot can be outstanding but if my feet sweat and stay wet, then I lose interest in the boots, especially if they start stinking quickly, I’m done lol. I typically do unlined or leather lined now, I’ll just wear super warm wool socks for cold days, I’d rather my feet breathe then be wet all day and stink to high heaven lol!

Just wanted to clarify here that Drew's does make boots in the USA. I got a pair a few years ago and they're great but priced similarly to the other PNW boots. I just got mine back from their first rebuild (I used to do a lot of herbicide work and the moisture, surfactants, and terrain were pretty hard on the leather). They've been every bit as good since. If you want Drew's you can still choose some models built in USA, but you're gonna pay for it.

When someone's says "they're too nice to wear", that's a nice way of saying you don't like the way they look. Wesco definitely overhyped.

My ears pricked up when you mentioned the squeak in your JK OTs. I have a pair of Vibergs that squeak in the layered sole construction, under the ball of my foot. It’s driving me insane. Was that the same thing you had on your JKs?

Try ballistol on the insole, maybe a few times let it get into the leather it worked for my motorcycle boots.

I know a lot of people don't like or are not used to the jk boots and that bigger lip. But jk explains why its there. Its to provide extra wear protection. The lip can wear down a lot more for more resoles on the boots. Plus if you spend a lot of time on your knees that lip helps protect your toes on the boots from wearing as much.

I was hoping to learn more about the OT than just a sizing issue since I'm curious if they are a great hiking option compared to all that extra mid and outsole or whatever. Most guys won't want the high logging heels if they are doing warehouse work and such.

I don't know why the Wesco aren't the backup pair for the Nick's, then. But we're only three pairs in, so... [and I think the Nick's run small that I shoulda got a wide maybe, BUT apparently they are not the same as walking on the gemming, so we'll see if they break in as instructed.]

I get that the sizing being a pain could detur from purchasing JKs but I don't see how that should change the price of the boots +QC issues? There's some pairs the stitching isn't perfect but I haven't heard people talk about any other QC issues, I'm just curious.

So I ordered from Nicks about 4 years ago after finding this channel. Could never understand why they didn't fit the way people said. Couldn't take the pain anymore. Went to sell them recently and the size 11 boots I ordered were 10. I went with the size on the box and never questioned it. 500 bucks and they gave me the wrong size.
