Such an incredible species. I was offered one that has not been well handled (mother bought for but I think they are a bit much for a beginner to handle! Awesome, awesome species though. One id love to get eventually once I'm more experienced.. Ideally one of yours, obviously! Excited to see you working with these Kevin!

The way your approach is awesome. I like the community that shows how smart and addpotive they are and are becoming. I will love to see your project t years from now. After you mate for docile bosc monitors. Who knows I might pay the cb price for a rep off you. That would be great. And keep up the good work because people like you will take the monitor breeding to the next level with that smart docile male.

My monitor warmed up to me pretty well she allows me to leash walk her.....and she hangs out with my wife and me....we have a pretty good relationship when she's cranky I don't back down but I also don't push it....when I'm spot cleaning ahe always comes tells me hello walks up to me flicks that famous tongue I pet her and she just watches what I'm doing...i have however been bit a handful of times.....it took a while for her to trust me and understand that I'm mot there to hurt her....i have videos up about her.....which I thought was weird is I was cleaning her cage and she literally watches everything I do...they are extremely smart and their thought process and evaluation of everything little thing...is amazing....i love Savannah monitors they are so badass.... Big thing with these guys is patience patience patience....and YOU WILL GET BIT OR NIPPED.... I love my like yoshi

(Not saying that he didn't try to tame them) This is what it's like when someone doesn't spend enough time with a baby savannah. They can be agressive but are really good pets for more experienced owners if handled a good bit at the right time and age.

I've seen these Monitors for sale for less than 50 bucks. I wouldn't recommend these for pets. They like to roam too much so cages need to be huge, and more then not are just nasty.
@panzerkrieg3509

The can make great pets, but the problem is most are wild caught so that means they are u trusting and come in sick, and as you said they do need a big enclouser. I plan to breed these guys in the future to get more captivebred babies out there.
@bmanz8117
@bmanz8117 4 жыл бұрын
@@panzerkrieg3509 I figured that. Good luck with yours. They are a very cool looking Monitor. I think like al Monitors, you have to put the time and work into them to have a decent mannered Monitor.

They calm down if you do it right. If you force handle them they'll get mean. I built mine a huge private enclosure, didn't mess with him till he started checking me out. It's all about trust building. They are pretty smart. Mine comes to the door when I open it, likes back rubs and scratches, looks at you when you call his name. Behaves better than most kids.

U only keep one male with all females???
@ashisharayath1396
@ashisharayath1396 4 жыл бұрын
Generally sivanah monitor females will die after laying eggs, so doing a project with less males and more healthy females might help the probability of creating healthy babies and maybe in long run it may change the cycle of female dying in future generations of the monitors. Just my own observation. I mean captive breeding of those species can at least help the chances of female living after laying eggs.
